• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replacement Windshield Confusion

I've used the Search Feature to research Replacement Windshields for the RT. Most of the info is 2012 vintage. From that info, I came away with the fact that two windshields seem most popular:
A. F4 Customs Plus 3 Wide (3" taller than stock-26" and 5" wider than stock)
B. Cal-Sci XL(3" taller than stock with variable increase in with from bottom to top)
What is not talked about is, is either windshield better for the passenger's well being???????
I am putting my confusion out on this forum to hopefully get some:
1. Current experiences with these windshields, and
2. Insight into their impact on the passenger because 95% of our riding is 2-up.
Thanks,
Mike
I realize that there's a signifigant price difference between the two windshields of approximately $140.00.

Are you saying your passenger is uncomfortable with the stock windshield because mine is pretty happy with it?

I'm just doing my homework in the event the OEM doesn't work. I know the OEM windshield has been changed(evolved) since 2010.

WINDSHIELD SIZE

It's physics ( I think ).....The larger the windshield the more air it's going to block , from you and more so the PASSENGER .......However there are drawbacks .....The spyder is now less aerodynamic ( if that's even possible :roflblack: ).. SO loss in gas mileage , slower to pass in traffic at highway speeds ( some anyway ) and maybe most important is ........is this going to cause the WINSHIELD ARM to break sooner than normal......and I say normal because a lot of them do break............just some thoughts ............Mike

We have a 2014 RTL and my wife is real happy with the OEM windshield. She says that she doesn't get any buffeting at all and not a lot of wind.

Good to know. I really wasn't looking to spend anymore money than I've already spent on my RT Limited making it more visible on the road. They used to say that H-D meant Hundreds of Dollars. I think that BRP has 'em beat.

I was wondering if hanging "a barn door" out there in the breeze would negatively affect the gas mileage. On my GoldWing trike, replacing the stock windshield with a Tulsa X-tra Tall increased my gas mileage because it improved the aerodynamics(if that's possible). I'm sure adding Baker Built Wind and Trike Wings helped out too.
I can't believe that BRP hasn't solved the breaking Windshield Arm issue by now.

:yes:.....Mike funny you mention that....I think I know why.....The RAKE ( angle ).....is different on the TULSA.....On my 08 GS , I put a 1200 GW windshield on it ( 472 sq.in. ) and my gas mileage went up also ........But the rake on that was 43 degree's .....................I agree and am bewildered on the " ARM " thing also......." NOBOOTS " from Australia came up with a solid Aluminum Arm that is an exact re-placement. It's not the easiest thing to do , but if you can it's only about $150 VS. $ 750 at the Dealer for the same piece of BRP crap............good luck with the windshield :thumbup:....Mike
