Ok I read that works were half the price....... So a phone call was made, being I buy 100s of set of shocks a year I thought what the heck, worth a shot...... I mean having another manufacture to pull from let's take a look.
First off I asked for shocks for a RTS.... Was told they don't make an RTS, can-am only RT's and RS's Huummm. Any ways fine ok I need them for an RT. The price was not 350.00 it was 849.00!! Wow, that's not what I read.... Next question what kinda shock is this. It's our base model piggyback ok.....then was told it was basily the same as the elka one way plus as far a the set up damping adjustment only, which is not bad, but why the piggyback??? The next step was about a grand. But did have high and low Adjustment, which is a good thing. Works does build good products. Can-am uses some of there stuff on the race team. But they are not half price, nor are they as knowledgeable about there products....... Don't take my word for it.
Call elks ask for John, spend 10 minutes on the phone with him. Ask the difference between piggyback shocks and high and low speed compression and about how your Spyder reacts. Then call works, give them the chance go into details. I don't have a dog in the fight, I could go with works or Elka. But I can say this John at Elka has been right here answering questions and taking care of Spyder folks for hundreds of sets, sponsoring our beloved site, and putting there money where there mouth is "spyderfest" all elkas are custom made.
Bottom line both build good products, Elka has had the most experience building Spyder shocks, also a site sponsor, and a site member and listens to us, if you've got a problem they will take care of you. And the base model elkas start at 700.00 plus you get a Spyderlovers member discount. Go with the one who earns your biz! Elka earned mine, along with a lot of other members, anyone wonder what Lamont rolls on:thumbup: I know what I roll on "ELKA"
