• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Removing a battery from a 2008 Spyder

To remove the battery, you must remove the side panels. including the one abovethe rear tire. (8 torx screws) The instructions are in the manual, tools in the pouch. The manual is available online at the BRP spyder web site. Good Luck:2thumbs:

If I'm sitting on the bike,which side would thw battery be on?

The battery is under the Left rear side panel. If I remember correctly you have to start up front removing the tupperwear.

Just remembered there are some of those plastic rivet under the seat holding the Left rear panel in plsce. You have to pry out the center pin.

Sounds like you are new to the spyder world, they are a boat load of fun, a little fustrating at times but worth the learning curve. Yep, placing the battery where they did was not one of there better idea's.:shocked:

If you do a search for battery servicing on this thread yoy will come up with loads of information.

Welcome:yes::yes:

Here's what you do..!!

left side (sitting on the bike) remove the center panel (4) torx. Remove the left rear panel (1) torx (2) plastic rivets remove rear splash panel over rear wheel (7) torx disconnect turn signal wires remove negative (-) lead to battery then (+) lead unhook battery strap and remove battery. Battery is on it's side and is heavy. Little wiggling and you will get it out...think I got it all then just reverse the process...good luck..!! :thumbup:

click link on the bottom of my post, there are videos there that will guide you though the process among other useful info...... :thumbup:
