There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Reflection on gauges cluster

trong

New member
Hello All,
I recently purchased a 2013 RT-L and so far I put about 800 miles on it. One thing I have noticed is the reflection of my torso on the gauges cluster, when I wear a black jacket it does not bother me as much but when I have a lighter grey jacket on I could hardly see the display due to the reflection. I think i will try to put a piece of matte cell phone screen protective plastic to see if it helps, at least on the rectangular digital display. But it might not work well because the plastic lens and it will be exposed to the sun.
Also Krylon Flat Crystal Clear spray paint might work too but that requires removal of the cluster or lots of masking tape.
Any ideas?
Cheers.

That's what I do. Works great. But you're right, a light color jacket reflects much more than dark color.

Thank you for these posts. I had never thought of that. I just tried to ignore the reflections. Is there a generic screen protector you get?

I also would like to know of a generic screen protector as I do the same as Paul, ignore the glare because I will not give up my high viz jackets.

I don't know of any generic ones. There are several brands available on Amazon. I think one I have used is Armortech. Anyway, just get a non-glare protector for a smart phone such as a Galaxy S7 and cut it to size. I have it just on the rectangular middle part of the instrument cluster.

Hi All,
Update. I found a matte screen protector for iPhone 7 in my phone supplies box, the width of the protector fits the height of the rectangular digital display on the RT perfectly; I just trim the ends to fit the width of the display. I put on without any problem, but the display is somewhat blurry. I will try it for a few days and decide whether I like it or not.
I think on the phone screen the LCD is actually less than 1mm from the surface of screen protector whereas on the Spyder's display the LCD is actually about 5mm from the protector. Hence the matte screen acts like a diffuser and makes the LCD display blurry.

Cheers.

Now that I have added my Garmin GPS to the F3, I also am noticing the glare from the sun. Thanks for the information.
