• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

Just an FYI. My 2017 RTL still doesn't show as on the list, but my dealer says it definitely is.

I was just wondering about that. I ran a friends vin on a 2015 through the website and it is not on the list.

I guess I'll call a dealer for him and find out. Thanks

Overhere in The Netherlands, the biggest dealer, says, PATIENCE, it will all work out, they are ordering parts as we speak, give it some time, and it will all be sorted. The solution after the sprocket swap, is not yet defined biy BRP.

I think, they are going to provide some sort of sleeve, over the shaft, and a bigger bore sprocket/pulley, but that is just my humble opinion (assumption) :)

Just checked both the BRP and NHTSA VIN checkers for my 2015 F3S and show 0 recalls on both sites.. Replaced the front sprocket at 18.5K with some red dust showing
with the new white one.. Was curious to see if I was to be recalled.

See post #65, You may still want to call a dealer to confirm.

I was at the dealer the other day and he mentioned that there was a pending recall for the sprocket on my RT. Funny thing I was there with a driveline vibration on decel at highway speeds and he mentioned its probably a belt deflection issue. I think its kinda a coincidence that I have this issue and there is a pending recall for my Sunfire and no mention of we will have a look at it to be on the safe side. From my understanding RT belt vibrations are under load and not the other way round, so I wonder if I am ready to be left by the wayside waiting for a flatbed to BRP.

I just checked the front sprocket from underneath my RT and its not looking too hot. Its a sea of red dust

YIKES! :yikes: Good thing you are plugged in, and paying attention. It likely saved you from the flatbed! Well done!

Thanks, I will leave it parked until I can get the temp fix done or until the recall is completed. Its funny the factory that builds the SPYDERS is 300km from my home and yet they say they don't have any parts, go figure

Mine not on list but called Can Am girl at 1-715-848-4957 and my 2015 IS ON the list!!! I have the sprocket and bolt ready. Anyone still interested in a F3 my sm6 has 22,000 miles with lots of updates including ultimate seat?

Replacement sprockets and bolts are available in stock. The permanent fix for the recall will not be available until fall.

I'm on the list. I think I may pull my LaMonster belt tensioner before taking it in for the checkout. My dealer and I don't have the best relationship and I don't want to give them an excuse to deny the safety recall work.

That's a good idea .... dealers will CLAIM anything NOT OEM will cause damage and then refuse Warranty claims. ..... even for things not remotely connected to the actual damage :gaah::banghead: ...... JMHO .... Mike

Well---BRP has had their head in the sand on this issue for far too long. Like the 2013 RT heat issue recall-which I had done on my 2013 RTL-they have done nothing until forced to do so by NHTSA. And of course by stalling for so long, there are no parts available now to fix the issue properly as required by NHTSA. I would be very surprised if they actually do have the parts available by August 30th, as they might be on a slow boat from China rather than coming from Canada. I don't know enough about the "interim" fix as to what it actually is to comment on it, but I do wonder how many of us will park their Spyders-myself included-until the proper fix is available rather than risk being stranded somewhere and have to get towed home, and then towed to the dealer who knows how many months later. I also doubt that BRP would reimburse anyone as a good faith gesture for the cost of said towing, or for the amount of time we are forced to wait without being able to ride our very expensive machines. This whole thing will really affect me personally, as I ride to work, and if I decide to park it, I am going to have to figure out an alternative means of transportation as we only have one car and cannot afford to - nor do we want to - buy another car in today's very expensive market. Just a rotten deal all around that IMHO just reinforces BRP's attitude towards us. Interesting that they have not commented on this thread, but not at all surprising.
