• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Recommended upgrades?

Can anyone tell me if the "recommended" upgrades are covered by the dealer? I've had the recall notice on the steering replaced, but have read stories about "grounding wires" on shift mechanisms - but since my bike isn't acting up, it wasn't installed by the dealer at time of service. I've heard of other "upgrades" as well, but again - since my SE5 appears to be running good, nothing was done.

Thanks,

Service bulletins are covered by the dealer. I think the coil wire ground was done early to mid 2009 and if you have a 2011 I'm sure it was done at the factory .

Warranty Campaigns, as BRP calls them, are performed free if:
1. You are still within the warranty period
2. You are experiencing the problem that is covered
3. Your Spyder comes shows on the list of serial/model numbers affected.

If out of warranty, you might have to negotiate with your dealer. Recalls are performed free...regardless, but there have been few actual recalls.

Thanks for the info!!!! The Dealer ran the VIN and performed all of the "required" actions and since no symptoms were present, nothing else was done. Appreciate the quick response from all!

If you do have an early SE version of the GS/RS, and the ground for the coil and oil cooler is not there, at least one important TSB was missed. There have been situations where a Spyder was included in a warranty campaign, but it did not show up on the computer...only in the written list. Nancy's Spyder was one of these. In other cases techs have mistakenly checked off that a service was done, when it was not. If you have a GS/RS-SE5, pull the side panel (where you check your oil) and look for a ground wire from the ignition coil body.

Scotty, can you take a pic of this and post...I'm pretty sure mine is done, but a proper check would be a great idea...

Thanks...

We don't have an SE, so I can't snap a picture. The coil sits forward of your oil tank, If you have the ground harness, the coil frame, oil cooler, and the Spyder frame will be connected by a small wire. It is pretty obvious.

Scotty,

I read too fast...I have the manual GS 2008...there is either no similar fix or it's done differently in my case?
