• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear Brake Caliper

I had the rear brake caliper changed earlier this month. BRP warrantied all work. I have posted pictures of the caliper. Anybody have any idea how this happened?

I was confused for a moment . . . .

. . . . I thought it was Doc who was posting and I know he never uses his brakes. :D

So, somehow, the disc started grinding the caliper ( from the last picture )? Was it loose?

El cheapo metal that got worn away by viberation. Either that or the new backing on the pad is harder than the caliper material.

Looks like the pad came off the groove on the pin and raddled around.
That might go under Sh** Happens, At least they covered it.
Bye the way what did the dealer say caused it?

No one at dealer has ever seen this before on any caliper...motorcycle or Spyder. BRP did want the caliper to examine it.

I just broke down the rear brakes to change pads @ 29K miles. They were getting thin and also the Brake Error message occasionally flashing. This one has the same wear pattern as Dudley's, not quite as severe. I've not seen wear on the brake pins before like this. Amazingly, the brake pads were worn quite parallel.

My hunch is the pin/bolts are flexing during (heavy) braking, allowing the pad to move/rub on the pin section. If the pins wear, then the pad can slide as one brakes going forward/reverse, rubbing the pad across the cylinder.

She's just out of the 2-year waranty period (by 2 weeks). We'll see how the BEST waranty works as I certainly would expect the brake caliper to be worn out.
