Ready for $4+ gas??

I guess after all the speculation as to why the price of gas is going up, The fact remains is that we have no control over it.
So if it go's to 4 or 5 dollars a gal we'll just belly up to the pumps gripe and pay it.:gaah:Remember in 73 when the word was gas would be going to a dollar a gal,
Most people back than said if that happens they'll stop driving, Yea Right like that happen!!

AAAAAhh the old odd even plate days in ny

I think the problem can be summarized as Big Government Muslim Controlling Non Drilling Tree Huggers.

So I guess we solved the problem. lol

Happy motoring. :2thumbs:

price of gas

I stopped to fill my RAM last night, and diesel was at $4. Kid pumping the gas (illegal to pump your own here), said it would be $4.159 today, with the other grades close behind. THAT will limit my traveling this summer!!! :gaah:
On the local news today, the reporter said by memorial day gas will be over $4.00 a gallon.
Then when the reports come out about how much money the gas companys made last quarter. But what we don't understand is that the gas companys are switching over to summer gas. What a hoax.

If middle east continues to de-stablize, get ready for $5 gas by July 4th and $6 or $7 gas if Saudi goes down the drain. But what the hay, I am upgrading one of my car with a supercharger which requires premium gas. Oh well, if you wanna play, you gotta pay.

:agree: with the last two posts...

In the end I remember being really pissed off when Gas went to $.75 a gallon and swore I would burn all my vehicles to the ground if it ever went over $1.00... Boy was I a hothead then, and ignorant...

$10 will be here soon enough. By then I hope the Spyder body is all some new high tech Energy producing armor that allows us to be self sufficient. nojoke

The :spyder2:may be my bargain this summer. Even at $4 a gallon I can go about 100 Miles (Nice Afternoon in the country) for $12.:2thumbs:
When I take my Jet Skies out its 14 Gallons times $4 or $56 a afternoon PLUS gas for the truck to get to the river $8!!!!!!

Thank the Lord I recently started Getting Social Security to go with my Military Pension!! Life is good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:roflblack:

It might be time to update the heading to "Are you ready for $6.00 gas"? We are at $3.81 for regular and climbing, with no end in sight here in Anchorage. If you drive about 50 miles out of town, add 20 cents a gallon. In the bush--its almost $10.00 a gallon.

Price of gas and thangs...

Very insightful comments on this thread, but I wanted to perhaps put a different perspective on this: The other day at an event, I saw a 20oz.bottle of water selling for $2.50 a bottle, and a 20oz. latte at S'Bucks costs $4.20. Tea is not much cheaper. Do the math and see how much a gallon of that stuff costs.
Please think about this when you are standing in line for coffee (or see others doing it), and think about the price of gas. $4? Why not?
:popcorn::popcorn:

I hear your pain bro .... I have 3 jets myself and two out of three are gas guzzlers. My vacation routine is breakfast, get gas, lunch, get gas and supper, collect all empty cans for tomorrow.:roflblack:

My response everytime I hear that is that you don't go thru 6 bottles of whater every 25 miles or 7 Starbucks grande every morning commute. To compare apples to apples, it should be consumption volumes vs. dollars per unit. IMO

I don't what you guys are complaining about ,I mean you only have Spyders Jet Skis and Snowmobiles to gas up. I just bought a 2011 Bentley Mulsanne and it only gets 7 mpg if gas gos any higher i might have to lay off my Chauffeur and drive myself. :yikes::roflblack::roflblack:

Good thing I bought that nissan ultima hybrid 3 weeks ago before this all started. Got a hell of a deal on it. Just filled it up after 3 weeks. 31.5 mpg in town.:2thumbs::ohyea::yes: Bought a 09 with 17000 miles for $15000. Warrenty for 8 years or 100,000 miles

Considering my truck and SUV is running under 20mpg, Spyder is a pretty good deal at over 30mpg. Both cars are near 30 mpg so I'll be using more of them as price goes higher. Only thing I don't hold back on is the fun stuff. On a good day, I'll go thru 12 gallons of fuel in a little over 2 hours of riding the surf. At $25 per hour of extream fun, that's worth it in my book.:D

Water was mentioned. Up here in Maine we pay 5 cent deposit on a bottle of water plus 5 % sales tax. Water is a luxury item unless you get it yourself from the lake or brook. I can buy Maine water (Poland Spring) cheaper out of state. also we are expected to show a receit for everything we buy out of state and send them 5% sales tax. You can be sent to jail or your property or wages taken from you for payment.

It wouldn't matter where the oil comes from--- the Middle East or in your back yard--- it's an international commodity and thus prices would not drop a bit.

All I know is that at $4.00 a gallon and getting 25 mpg------ it's gonna cost .16 per mile to ride the spyder this summer--- just for the gas... :-(

The oil companies employ tens of thousands of people and work very had at what they do. After it's all said and done they make about $0.04 per gallon for their efforts.

States make between $0.06 and $0.32 per gallon (average is about $0.20 per gallon). This is 1-1/2 to 8 times what the oil companies make off a gallon of gas.

The Federal government makes over $0.18 per gallon (about 4-1/2 times what the oil companies make).

These government agencies don't explore, drill, pump, refine distribute, or operate any stations. They just collect. And these amounts don't include typical local taxes of $0.03 - $0.10 per gallon.

In New York, if you took out the tax you'd be paying about $0.59 per gallon less. If you quit paying the BIG OIL companies you'd be paying just $0.04 a gallon less.

So where does the rest of the money go? To employees, corporate taxes (which is another big haul for government and shows up as increased prices at the pump because companies do not pay any tax, they just collect it from you and I for the government), then there is the expense of company operations and a big chunk to the Arabs for product since we can't drill here in the US.

It's easy to blame the oil companies, but being easy is really about as far as that will go.

Did you know that the Federal government, as well as most states and local governments, raised the tax rates on fuel in January?

If you had a business, wouldn't you expect to make at least as much off of it as the government did?

This 'data' is very debatable......
