• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Random codes or a real problem?

Hope you and your Dad share many more miles and smiles

I am sorry you are having so many problems with your spyder. That really sucks! If it was mine, I would have burned it by now. I commend you for sticking in there and trying to get the problems fixed. Seems like the lemon law would apply in your case, but I dont know what you need to qualify for it. I really think BRP has put way too much technology into the spyders. They are like a cadillac...way too many bells and whistles to break or malfunction. The day my 2014 RT starts giving me trouble, I am sending it down the road. I think they are getting better, especially when I compare my Dad's 2013 to my 2014. The differences are night and day. Everything from quality, to ride, to drivetrain are greatly improved in the 2014. I hope your spyder finally gets properly repaired and you get to enjoy many trouble-free miles. Its no fun when you have to fix them all the time. That is the reason I sold my Harley. I always had to either fix it before I rode, fix it while I rode, or fix it after I rode. I have a 2015 Victory magnum with under 3000 miles and I currently have the top end of the front cylinder torn apart to repair 2 collapsed hydraulic valve lash adjusters( a common problem on the victorys). Luckily its easy to work on. Just waiting for parts. Anyway, good luck my friend.

Thanks!

Very nice wrap too :firstplace:

 Jer,

At the risk of asking something that has been asked before: How much do you trust your Dealership's Service Department? :dontknow:
It seems pretty clear that what has been tried: just ain't working... :banghead:
Perhaps a change of venue would make a difference.

Something ain't working - that's for sure

Bob,

After reading this list.

Ball joints - replaced

Front wheel bearings - replaced

Radiator fitting broke during service (known problem) - replaced radiator

Water pump leaking - replaced

Fuel lines at the fuel pump all leaking at fittings(major leaking) - replaced

Shift trigger failing - replaced

For 18 months now - repeated P0174/P0171 lean fuel codes(repeated problem). Actions taken: Replaced wiring harness(did not fix), replaced good vacuum hoses with NEW vacuum hoses(did not fix), fuel pump/sending unit replaced(did not fix).To date over a $1000.00 out of pocket trying to solve the problem. Plus more 200 mile round trips to the dealer than I can remember.

Bent drive pulley(rear). No frigging idea how it could have happened - unless it was defective since new, or something happened when the dealer replaced the rear tire, one - of the last two times. The one thing I know for certain is I damn sure didn’t bend it.

Clutch replaced @ 29,500 miles 4/28/17. Started showing signs of slipping over a year ago. First replacement clutch from BRP had warped plates, finally got it right with the second clutch pack.

May 5, ’17 - preparing the Spyder to be trailered to dealers and found the windshield control bracket is cracked. 30,156 miles.

Would you say it's a dealer/tech problem?

Or a product problem?

Eight more day's

in the shop and not one word. Are BRP's finest stumped too? Pure speculation on my part. But, it seems to me I'd have heard something. If they knew something.

:doorag:

In the shop another two weeks and this is the latest update

this is what we found so far…. unit was inspected and the unit had the *P0416 code(*may be a typo - no such code for Spyder - best I know), contacted BRP regarding this issue. inspected the wires once again and the ground at the fuel pump connector had .0 to .1 ohms, got a .3 ohms reading from the fan ground ( per schematic both the fan and fuel pump share the same ground), battery to the fan ground was .4ohms, battery to the fuel pump was .0-.1ohms, fan ground to the fuel pump ground was .1ohms, inspected ground wire from the fan it appeared to be secure, inspected the connector once removed from the connector and it was still at .0-.1ohms, inspected the wire back towards the harness and it was at .4ohms, repair and shrink tubed wire, front reading was taken, rechecked ground at fan connector and it was at .4ohms, reinstalled unit and 80 miles has been ridden on the unit with no check engine light.

The wiring repair suggested by BRP was from the main wire harness. Not the one that was replaced in 15. The plan looks to be to test ride one last time. As soon as that is completed, I'll update you.

my note

Dog, meet tail.

So, one week ago today I decided to contact @BRPcares.

Of note: the Spyder has been at the dealer -again- for the past three weeks. They have been working with BRP tech support, and I'm told my issues have been referred upward to BRP 2 (two) times during this period.

BRPcares response this AM.

Hi Jerry,

My name is xxxxxx(withheld because it doesn't matter), I am a consumer experience coordinator here in the BRPcare team. I am really sorry to read about your ongoing concerns regarding your Spyder.

After having a close look at your records, my best recommendation is that you make an appointment with your service dealer and ask them to contact a BRP product specialist once your unit is in the dealership.

Thanks for writing to BRPcare and have an excellent day!

Really?

Nothing else to say.

The response says it all!

Perhaps you should be right there with the Technician, when he calls BRP to actually get the ball rolling...
At least you can verify that a call was made, and the call was received...
:lecturef_smilie: Do NOT trust anyone! Verify everything! nojoke

To doubt my dealer would be to suspect the owner is not telling me the truth. And, that simply ain't the case. Too many years of background with him to ever think such a thing. He, like myself, serves it straight up.
