I would like recommendations for good rain gear that would not be to hot in the Deep South during the summer time. Also, recommendations on affordable place to buy.

Like anything else, ya get what ya pay for. We splurged for the BRP gear when we were caught in a stormy weekend. It's great stuff, but I'm sure there is comparable stuff out there. Frogg Togg is very popular. Any reputable outdoor sporting goods store would have several brands on display....go check em out, then order what ya like on Amazon

Frogg Toggs meet the affordable requirement, but they don't breath as well as advertised and they wear pretty quickly if used a lot. But with the weather we have been having in MS right now they are not too bad.

I swear by Frogg Toggs. If you want to save some money, buy the ones sold at Cycle Gear.

Frogg Toggs seem to be quite popular. We are going to look at them before the rainy season starts. The heavier textile stuff we brought with us from Alaska is out because of the hotter weather we encounter here.

I’ve had all different types and think you’re gonna have trouble finding any that will be cool on a hot day.I have LL Bean right now with slipcover booties that keep me very dry.Wife has Frog Tog and stays dry also.I found my set very slightly used for cheap right here on the for sale forum.

Breathable rain gear does tend to cost more, so be prepared for that. My go-to store for gear is Cycle Gear, mainly because I can try before I buy. I've had too many mail order fails. Cycle Gear has good selection and good prices - I call them the Harbor Freight of he MC accessory world.
The best advice I can give anyone buying rain gear is; get a two piece outfit and pants with full length side zippers.

I have a Klim parka in Hi Viz and Klim bibbs. Very breathable, waterprooof, with armour. Highly recommended.

Not cheap but I wear Klim Kodiak Jacket and pants. Basically the same as the Klim Badlands Pro but different cut which suits my long limbs better.

As its Gortex Pro there's no need to put on waterproofs when it rains. Lots of vents to keep you cool when riding, the mix of vents means you can fine tune it easily - I find the arm vents in particular are very effective. The only issue with the vents is some can be hard to do up when riding so you may need to stop to close them if it starts raining.

It also doesn't have a liner which is a plus in my books, When its cold I prefer to just put on an extra layer underneath rather than mucking around with removable liners.

Built in armour is top of the range stuff.

Go to bicycle store and check out their rain gear. Made for the cyclist that is working up a sweat and it packs into the smallest packs. Takes up way less storage than Frogg Toggs.

None are going to be cool. Locking moisture out, also keeps a considerable amount of heat and moisture in.
Olympia and Firstgear both make fine rain wear that will last a long time.

Another vote on the Frog Toggs. I've been using them for almost 15 years now along with thin rubber shoe pull overs just to keep the feet dry too.

I wear the KLIM Hi Viz forecast jacket and black forecast pants. Very nice and breathable. It’s gortex. Spend the money upfront and it will last forever.
