• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I live in the Chicago area and the reception on Satellite and regular radio is spotty. I can't get my favorite station. Would a better antenna or amp work and if so suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Mike

RECEPTION

Try this first, get a 7mm deep socket and remove the OEM antenna...... Clean off all the loc-tite , if you have carb cleaner put that on then screw it back in ...remove and see if any lok-tite came out with it ..... The lok-tite seems to prevent good contact ....se if this makes a difference in reception...........if it does that's was the problem .......if you put more lok-tite on only put it on the last three threads at the top of the antenna before you screw it in.................Mike

My OEM antenna broke off ( putting on 1/2 cover) I used a 7 mm deep socket to remove the OEM base, ( inside) I installed a short antenna , ( from Pitbull) and installed a new radio boot.

Hi Mike,
I had the Technician clean the extra Loc-Tite off of mine recently. It helped... marginally!
What else might be loose or malfunctioning, that prevents reception? All of the functions of the system seem to work just fine... :dontknow:

That was the EASY DO fix ..... Question, when you where in Missouri how was the reception ???? even with all that lok-tite ???................ Mine was really good, but I switched to the collapsible car antenna which connects direct into the radio !!!.....Mike

Since it has never had any decent reception: I didn't check it out there...
But I doubt that Missouri has any FM stations, that play the crap...errrr... music, that I like to listen to anyway! :D
Perhaps I'll just have to try changing to a different antenna next. Can the OEM versions suffer a breakdown of the "electrical stuff" that's in them? :dontknow:
(Sorry: I don't know the proper technical terms for antenna parts)

Looked at the antenna today and the right one was very loose so I tightened it up but haven't gone for a ride since. The left one was tight. The right on had the 7MM fitting ti tighten it but the right one did not have a 7mm fitting that I saw, just the coated shaft that had pliers marks on it. Thanks, Mike

If you have one on the LEFT that's a CB antenna and I have no info to give you on that one .....Mike

Always been spotty!!

Some days I can pick up stations 80 miles away clear as a bell and have a dozen stations picking up, but at other times I can search the entire frequency range without picking up a single station....In the same areas.......Still trying to figure that one out....... No locktite on the mount nut and it is tight.....Been doing that since new and dealer sees no issue....

What do y'all think?
