There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Question??? With all respect.

Legitimate reasons...

I don't want to pull to a red light and have to put my feet on the ground to hold up straight...then on take off drag my feet a little until I get up and going good. Also I desire stability in case a situation takes a turn to being really bad on the road. And last, I like being different. Everyone rides the same 2 wheel bikes and no one stands out amongst the crowd unless the bike is insanely decked out. The Spyder stands out in the crowd bone stock. :doorag:

Really, though the OP may have gotten to a few, I think most responders have simply taken the opportunity to answer the question.

And why not? If you're happy with your ride you don't have to be defensive.

You should have been at a certain gas stop on the way to Durango where an 'Old School Biker' just started ripping into Lamont's RT beyond belief (and Spyders in general). This guy was a Mega-Hater! I think this guys blood pressure was probably double the temperature (and it was HOT!).

We should have video'd that one! Classic person that had all the answers and no clue what he was talking about. I don't think any of us will ever forget that guy.
We were out today in the Tunnel of The Trees in Northern Michigan .We stopped for lunch at an old inn.2 RT limited in Metallic Bronze.6 Harley's rode in.We answered a hundred questions. They were fascinated by the bikes and thought them really cool.

Would have chimed in earlier........

but got delayed trying to get the knots out of my panties!
The poster did his respectful best to stir the pot and me thinks his mission was a huge success.

Guess I will get back to trying to untie those nasty knots..........:banghead:

I had a Honda, I had a Harley, I had a Triumph, and I had a Yamaha FJR 1300.

Loved them all for different reasons.

And three years ago, I had a brain tumor the size of a golf ball removed from the right side of my skull, and it left me with a slightly 'sketchy' left leg, and no ability to shift a manual tranny (can't turn my ankle far enough to the right to engage the shift lever with my foot).

So.....if you're not ready to give up riding, and I'm not and wasn't, you do whats you gotta do.

And I did, but I've discovered after I got my Spyder, that I love it, too.

One of my best friends has a 100th Anniversary Road King; great looking bike; great guy; we've ridden together since we both bought Harleys 10 years ago.

And I'm not the least bit embarrassed over his choice of scoots when he rides with me.
And though I'm not sure, I don't think he's anymore brain damaged than I am.

Posting to Ourselves???

Is everyone having fun posting to themselfs ????????? :roflblack:

I have read this entire thread, and it has been very interesting to see how others feel about their 'rydes'. We're not posting to ourselves, and if the OP comes back, he will learn that it's a matter of choice, and it should not be questioned, as we would not question his or anyone else's choice of a Harley, Vulcan, Gold Wing, etc.

And, it's 'themselves', not 'themselfs'. :chat:

And it's "Shouldn't"----------- not "should not"

BTW........ you have a run on sentence with way to many commas, so we are even. :roflblack:

Now get back to work and post to yourself. :joke:

I don't know where you learned your English grammar, but it's not really important. And, shouldn't is the contraction for should not. Either one is correct. Just very petty, and I apologize if I embarrassed you.

Excactly......... hence my comment back at ya. I'm not the type of guy that cares what people think of me so...... no I'm not embarrassed but I do like your spunk.

I am one who knows where I stand, am a positive person, and stand up for what I believe. I have read your comments, and have to wonder why there is always an argument. I'm not saying you need to agree all the time, but looks to me that you always agree to disagree. I know who I am, and if someone doesn't like that, I cannot apologize. I live every day for my God, who is first in my life, and He is the most important.

I do not judge, I have not said anything to judge you or anyone else, and only God will judge all of us. Having commented on the English grammar is not judgmental, and it is not only you. I notice many 'mistakes' on Facebook, e-mail, etc., and I make mistakes, too. Please do not bring out the religion card on me. You do not know me, I do not know you, except for the posts made here. Our only commonality is ryding a Spyder. However, I would really like to sit down with you someday and talk with you. In a lot of ways, we have things in common - like standing our ground for what we believe. Since this discussion could go on and on, I will take the initiative to say that it has been interesting posting back and forth, and hope to do it again soon. God bless and I do hope to meet you someday! :2thumbs:

The anger is simple. The inference is that Spyders are somehow less than two wheelers. And, by implication, that we are less because we don't ride bikes. In a way, it is more incidious because the accusation is phrased with some level of respect (it feels a bit passive/aggressive to me, honestly).

To top it off, at one time or another we've all asked ourselves similar questions, and it plays on that as well.

What it comes down to is that we enjoy riding our Spyders, but the questions plays to issues of personal ability and value, as well as how we are seen by others, which always pushes buttons.

I do think it likely that somebody was having some "fun" at our expense, and we, perhaps, played into it a little bit too much. Or not?

One added thought:

Part of the issue is that the premise of the question assumes that we are riding on training wheels, and that bikes are more difficult and better for that reason. It isn't true, but when it's part of the premise it gets questioned a bit less, and stings a bit more.

Very well said. Thank you!

I haven't seen all the responses yet. I appreciate your curiosity and that you are open to listening to our responses.

First, I am 42... and have owned multiple two wheelers. I've also had a couple of serious accidents.

The reasons I bought my 08 Spyder?

- I was looking for a touring setup - Spyder with hard cases carries a lot of gear.
- I love weird stuff. The Spyder was so different that I almost had to have it based on that alone.
- I liked that it was bigger\wider- and indeed cagers notice me more.
- Stops on a dime.

Will I go back to two wheels? Probably. I still ride a bike now and then. You can't compare the two though both put you in the wind and that is all that really matters. Riding is riding isn't it? No it isn't a bike per-say, but in my state it does require a motorcycle license so go figure.

I am 62 and just bought my 2nd Spyder (10th bike). I enjoy it, great fun, I like the way it handles, I feel safer on it, my wife likes it, My grandson likes it. I could go on and on but you get the point. I liked my Goldwings also but to me the Spyder is more fun. I like your bike also but I would rather have the Spyder. (that's why I bought my bike and you bought yours). The world would be a terrible place if we all married the same woman, drove the same car and rode the same bike.
