Question about price on a Spyder

I stopped at a local dealer today and looked at a 09 RS-S. It was converted from a Phantom. They took the Phantom panels and put em on a '10 RS-S.

This Spyder has never been started, with 0 miles. It comes with no extras except for a rolling bag for the trunk.

Asking 16K even. Full warranty from date of purchase.

They have been selling a few,I noticed. Many are gone from the showroom, including 2 RT's.

I m thinking seriously about this one at this price.

Thanks for any input/opinions.

If it is a manual, and an '09, it seems a bit steep, no matter what color the panels are...unless that is the out-the-door price. Second thing to look at is what they actually changed...is that all the panels, and not just those replaced by the phantom panels, and how about the seat cover and windshield? This makes no sense. Now neither is a special edition. Why didn't they put the phantom panels on the '09? I don't like deals that cause more questions than they answer.

Wayyyyyyy steep...I just bought a 09 RS sm5 off the showroom floor for $11,800 with an extended warranty...09's should have 3 yrs...had 34 miles on it when i bought it. I'd check around for other pricing...

What was that dealer smokin;?

You should ride that like you stole it...because at that price you clearly did. You should also consider framing that invoice too. 34 miles on it and got it for at least 2-3 grand under blue book value...from a dealer with no trade in?!?

Nice. :2thumbs:

One on Ebay now 2010 RS Electric 16,300 or 2009 manual 13,000 both brand new !

16k seems high. We walked in with 15k, got 3 year warranty, 1k goody bag and 2 Jackets. Out the door.

That was a 2009, 0 miles. The second one we found on craigslist with 400 miles on it. Young lady bought on July 10 2010 and lost job on the 15th. We took over balance and never looked back.

Its an automatic. All the panels were exchanged,as was the seat. Is the windshield different between the Phantom and the RS-S?

The only reason I can come up with is someone wanted a '10 Phantom and the only two machines that they had left was the ''10 RS-S and the '09 Phantom, and they just switched panels.

They had one '10 RS-S there with stock bags on it for 18,900.

I guess I could settle for an SE_5 no matter what the color, as long as it is new.

:agree: :ani29:

I was at a dealer last week that was trying to get $18 for a 09 SM5 sitting on the showroom floor. :yikes: I guess more power to them if they are able to pull that one off.

Same dealer has an 09 SE5 that he'll sell for $11,800 with around 1700 miles on it. It was his personal scoot but he bought a 2010 RT that he highly customized. It's red/black just like mine, stock..no modifications...I also consider this a terrific buy.

I bought an 2010 RS-S for $17,500 with additional $500 in :spyder2: parts and accessories on July 17th.. They listed it for $18,800 and my initial offer was $16,500.

And remember- Phantom panels does not make a Phantom. There ate countless "dressings" on the real Phantom that justify some of the extra cost. It would cost quite a bit to do those upgrades although they only add to the look not performance.

Is that 16k in USD or Canadian funny money?

If USD... It is way high for a left over 09. I bought my left over 08 SM5 for 14,100 before tax and tags in April of 09. Considering the riding season is getting shorter, and the 2011 model details are soon to be upon us, I suspect that price is a rip.

Excellent point. Phantoms are unique and can't be copied except for dressings. And yes, the shield of a Phantom is different from an RS-S. I can't see a dealer converting a Phantom with an RS-S panel kit. Makes no sense. The RS-S is kind of a special as well. Why you would want to mess with either configuration is beyond me, unless something funny is going on here...
