• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Pulling a trailer with the Rt-S ??????

Spyder Couple

We are trying to find a trailer that we can pull behind our 2011 Blue Spyder RT-S that we can put my mobility scooter in along with some camping gear, or just the scooter and groceries. :helpsmilie:

How big is to big?

What size is the trailer you pull and the weight?

There is a similar thread on this topic. The mobility scooter will need a ramp, so it will require a ramped trailer or an open trailer with separate ramp(s). The only small ramped trailer I have seen is the WAGS Handicap Trailer. There are few, if any, small, open trailers, so you would likely have to modify or build your own. The Spyder is limited to a total, loaded trailer weight of 400 pounds, and a 40 pound tongue weight.

Thank you Scotty.

It doesn't look like you could get any thing but the scooter in there.

It would be nice to be able to get Cindy scooter in and put the camping gear in also so we could take the spyder to the beach or on long trips.

It depends a lot on the weight of the scooter. You could pile a lot of camping gear and stuff on top of the scooter and in the nooks and crannies. You would just have to watch the total weight. It might be a bit less convenient piled on the scooter, but it should work OK with a little extra effort.

A custom trailer is another possibility. Where there is a will, there is a way. My motorcycle trailer is wide enough and long enough for a scooter. A cargo box on the front could easily add storage. Anything is possible.

Is that bicycle for show or does it really run?
It is actually a 1958 Simplex motorcycle, or maybe more correctly a motorbike in modern terms. It runs fine, but at 5 HP is licensed as a moped, so is seldom street ridden. Mostly for fun, show, and as a great pit bike. The engine is a Honda QC160. The original 2-stroke engines were junk. A lot of the Simplexes have been remotored. The purpose of my post was to show the custom trailer, and not the motorcycle, though.

The Wags trailers are really nice.

We've had one for a few years and it worked well behind the HD.
Finally figured out the wiring for the Spyder ..... will be giving it a test run.

riding up to Denver Iowa to pick up the trailer makes for a good road trip too.

Sorry for getting off topic, but is a bit south of nowhere, near the middle of nowhere in Nebraska..... Sign there on 20 that says "You have just entered the middle of nowhere".

Take a look at this one:

Should be enough for a MT, and priced right. The issue would be how far are you going to tow it? Friends have hauled bikes for 1500 miles on them, but they are fairly shot at the end of that kind of trip.

I just ordered a Haul-Master 1090 lb. Capacity 40-1/2" x 48" Mini Utility Trailer Harbor Freight Item # 90153. Looks nearly identical to the other but is on sale for $199.99. I have found a Lg. hinged Rubber Maid, lockable box at Fred Myers in Oregon for unmder $90. I know it's not a BRP trailer but it should serve me well for a year or two. Also ordered a Canadian Trailer Hitch. Total cost will be about $600. Will probably upgrade later but for now...

Four hundred pounds is not a lot of weight. How much does the BRP trailer weigh?
