Hey everyone, I installed a tailgunner exhaust just prior to the snow last year. Rode it around for a few hundred miles, and everything seemed great!!! Ballsy sound, sweet looks, all good. The weather is finally starting to break, so I got the bikes out.
The spyder is beginning to have quite a bit of hesitation upon acceleration; from just cruising around town or on the highway to giving it some throttle. Seems as it stutters a bit before it rockets off. And just cruising around town 35mph it acts like it is missfireing too. The spyder has always turned heads, but now Im wondering if its turning heads for the wrong reason because the exhaust sounds like crap.
I am also noticing quite a bit of popping and what sounds like mini explosions inside the tailgunner exhaust can. If i give it some throttle just off off idle, i notice it popping and stuttering, as well as the can actually shaking excessively when this happens.
Now i have read tons of forums about the juice box, O2 modifiers and such. I have two other bikes, an 03 harley vrod A model and an 09 harley vrod muscle. Both of my other bikes have had exhaust changes, along with K&N air filter plus a powercommander. These bikes were tuned last year, but recently each of these bikes are experiencing the same thing as the spyder this year. The muscle has reversion in the pipe, and this seems to be a problem with the muscle tunes per the 1130cc.com forums. The tune I had prior showed this very little, however, on my ride home from church I had reversion horribly. The other V-rod is in the process of completely redoing the custom map due to a slight blip at cruising speeds, plus running dangerously lean at crusing speeds.
Im not sure if its just the slightly warmer weather that is doing this, but all 3 of my bikes have the popping problem now. I'll take care of the vrods with the power commander, but the spyder is what I need your opinions on. The only mod I have done to this is just the tailgunner exhaust.
In your opinions, which is the better way to try and tackle this stuttering and popping problem on the spyder. I see power commander came out with a box for the spyder, but the settings look identical to the juicebox settings. I hear some praising the O2 modifier... Im just not sure which way to go. You opinions are welcome!
