• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Pre hibernation battery charge/maintainer options

I have always used Battery Tender Jr's on my Spyders. I also put my Spyder up for hibernation (from Oct. 2020 to April 2021). I like the plug and play that the Battery Tender Jr has.

My 2020 RT purchased in February only has about 18 or 1900 miles. I’m going to ride her for another month and then hook her up to the battery tender and let her sit until the spring and then ride her until I hit 3000 and then do first service. But I’ve been using a battery tender for years and never had a problem with them.

I have both a Deltran Battery Tender (3 amp) on the Spyder and the much physically smaller Yuasa (1 amp) on the '91 Sturgis.

Both units seem to work just fine; both bikes also have Yuasa batteries installed. Never a failure to start right up.

You really should go ahead and do the oil change before storage.

I've been using Battery Minders on tons of batteries for years with great results.
Both my 1200 Ski Doo's, HD Road King, Boats and mowers are on them. 10 yrs. out of my HD's OEM battery, only pulled it for age and not that it wouldn't start. Same for my '09 Ski Doo 1200 10 yrs. with OEM Yuasa, age factor.
When it's garaged it get plugged in year round.
As soon as I get the wife's new to her '15 F3 home it will get the same care. Just waiting for dealer to swap out the ''fart'' can on it.

" B " , thanks for posting about using " Star Washers ". .... I have been advocating this for about 8 yrs. now :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: ......... Mike :ohyea:

~~~had to get one of my batt. chargers hooked up to my Spyder the other day and found the positive cable/bolt wasn’t even finger tight. Since she was parked up at my horse barn I didn’t have handy access to spare lockwashers that are in my garage, and yep, have yet to add two to this battery but since you brought up the use of specific star washers Mike, I’m going to make an effort to stop by our local fastener store and pick up a variety of sizes (star washers). Thank you for mentioning it here
Best,
P.S.Now don’t any of you start throwing stones at Jake for dowdy indifference to maintaining his Spyder RTLimited battery, Jake’s only owned this Spyder for 63 days or so=:-)
I have personally owned easily 75 plus motorcycles. Have used Battery Tender Jr's for as long as they have been available. I have never bought a Motorcycle Battery in my life. When not riding, BT Jr. is always connected. A little different, We have a 2010 Toyota Tundra with the ORIGIONAL battery. Truck cranks like it is new. Truck sits for several months at a time occasionally. Keep it on a BT Jr. when not being used.
This is the tender I really like. I've had several. Some good, some bad. The Battery Tender Jr's are fine. No complaints there. But I'm always looking for a better mousetrap. And I like to try different things. Options are good!
This Battery Minder 2012 not only does a great job of keeping batteries up. It will charge a low battery of most any kind. I've used it on my F250 diesel and diesel tractors. Plus, I've had this little guy bring some batteries back from the dead.
It's a bit spendy. But I've found it worth the price. You can get it for about $85.00 on Amazon.
It comes with several forms of attachment. Including a permanently installed pigtail.
No Garage!
Left my Spyder off at the dealership for oil change and brake check. It needs brake fluid purge etc. so I will be looking for another mortgage on my condo.
:yikes:
