• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Possible cause of limp mode and codes?

If engine oil seeps into a wiring harness connection, could it cause this problem?

I have a 2013 RT LTD that went to limp mode today sitting in my garage, this was about 2 hours after a 150 mile ride. I'm getting codes P1120, P212D, P212C, P2620, P0108, P0335. I looked the codes up and it seems like this could possibly be a wiring issue rather than actual component problem.

This leads me back to an oil change that was done a couple weeks ago by a new, local Can Am dealer. They pinched a filter housing o-ring when installing the new filter and doused the machine in oil when they started it back up. It took them several hours of cleaning and it still smelled of burning oil the first time I rode it afterwards.

Now back to the problem, after looking at the codes and thinking about the cleaning that had to be done under the plastic to remove all the oil, I thought it might be a loose connection and decided to check for anything obvious. I didn't find anything loose, but while pushing to make sure connections were secure I heard a sizzle from somewhere in the area I was checking and smoke briefly came out of the vent on the left side:shocked:.

I'll be contacting the dealer Wednesday after the holiday, but in the meantime this will drive me crazy.

I have read all 4000 posts on this subject and yours is the first to suggest this ..... I know OIL wasn't the issue in my DESS failure ...... Mike

This is the first problem I've experienced with this bike, so admittedly I'm somewhat ignorant to some of the terminology and problems these machines experience. Is DESS and LIMP Mode the same?

Let's see....

DESS is an ignition key/switch problem and limp is a safety feature to avoid damage the spyder. Limp may limit your speed/rpm or stop you. Now from what you said about a sizzle and smoke...:yikes: best get it back to those that caused the oil problem to start with and make mention of all the codes so they know you know...:gaah:
