Polaris Slingshot in Texas

All the tests I have read on the Slingshot say it is hoot to drive. If I had unlimited funds, I might own one. I don't and won't. Sorry my initial post set that fella off. I didn't realize there had already been a urinary olympics on the subject. FWIW: I don't ride my Spyder so it can take the place of my KZ1000 or CB1100A. I enjoy riding motorcycles with two wheels. I do ride the Spyder and enjoy it two-up. It is much more comfy on 3 wheels in my declining years than two. Plus I couldn't convince my missus to ride across the state on a KZ1000. We have been riding together two-up for most of 50 years and she has begun to grow fond of COMFORT. A touring seat, floorboards, armrests, a padded backrest, etc. I have kind of grown fond of comfort. Heck we started riding two up on a 69 CB450 because we didn't know better.

Oh yeah... the new rules have opened the door for the Elio if/when it is produced as an autocycle here in Texas. At $6800 it would be fun to own one if the price point holds... the ELio is sort of an RT with a roof, windshield wipers and A/C. HEY Can-AM! You read that $6800 price point? hehe

Me too! I like em, If I had the extra funds I would have one. Still no dealers in Alaska though--so I am safe. Oh--not going to get rid of my :ani29:'s either. Akslingshotman or maybe AkSS--who knows? :roflblack::roflblack:

I would of had it back this past Monday 7/20, BUT I had the 2014 airflow panels on my 13 and the dealer ended up getting 2 new 2013 style panels for the right side. Either way I will have it this week end. I will ride with out those 2 panels if I have too.

Yes very bad idea. I don't get it.

In Texas, the new autocycle designation means no special license endorsement and normal helmet rules apply which mean basically only on kids under 18. Adults don't need to wear a helmet. I don't want to start a helmet debate. Wear one if you like. I do as I took the Texas Helmet Test. The test involves finding a concrete wall and whumping your head against it. Then you put on a helmet and repeat. If you can't tell the difference. you really don't need a helmet. Plus I enjoy protecting my head from the direct sun and cold wind in the winter. The scar from taking the test will likely fade in time.

I saw the pics... if you hit a deer head-on, why no frontal damage (or did I miss it) and how did the bag get zapped? We have miserable little deer here in Texas and my wife totalled a Buick when she hit one... or better said, it hit the car. I found out later that you are not supposed to shoot a suffering deer. Geesh.

I like reading about the slingshot. It's on my endless list of cars-motorcycles, guns, and women I'd like to drive, shoot, and sit down with a glass of wine and hear all about how their day went.
