• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am new to the Spyder and all this talk of recalls for fires, shift troubles oil in the air box and the like are starting to get to me. Please, does anybody have a cut off point when you might get a Spyder that would have the least amount of defects in it? Mine is so new and I hate the thought of the motor removed to dig into the transmission at this point. Thanks, and ride safe, All.

welcome & :congrats:
Yes, there has been some issues with the Spyder. Fortunately, I have not had anything major go wrong with mine. My advice is to just ryde it, enjoy it and make what changes (mods) you deem necessary for getting the most enjoyment out of your Spyder. If you have a problem cross that bridge when you get there. I hope you never have any issues with yours. I've had mine since 11/7/08 and have really had a blast with it. I've met some really good people via this website and made some close friends and plan on meeting some more SpyderLovers in Gatlinburg in Sept. I hope you are able to make the trip.

It appears that the VAST majority of us (despite the comments on the two boards) have Spyders that are defect free and responded to the software update with absolutely no issues.

If you buy a Spyder now it should be delivered with all updates. If you have one, get the updates done NOW.

I have owned my Spyder since March of 2008 and it's been trouble free for the most part. I have a good dealer with a good service department and I get lots of knowledge from reading other SpyderLovers posts about their Spyder (good, bad, breakdowns, mods, etc.) I wouldn't worry too much about what might happen and just enjoy the ride.

Sorry for bringing up a dead horse!!!

I do feel somewhat better. Thanks for the replies. I guess I did let it go over the top a little. But you have to agree there is a lot of negative stuff on this site. I just don,t need to let it go to my head. Thanks again for the reality check. Ride safe!

Negative stuff is a part of a lot of forums. A lot of people interact on forums to get help with a problem.

problems

i didnt have any problems with my 2008 or my 2009 until i got the safety recall. now i have problems:(. i have over 8000 miles on the 2008. but until now i was happy with my spyders. i called brp on my problems they are telling me that they are working on it.:chat:

Not sure that there isn't every bit as much positive stuff on this one. Lots of talk of happiness, mods, etc. It's just that it isn't as noticeable as the spectacular stuff, complaints, questions, and troubleshooting.

Have a 2008 & 2009 SE5

Both have had the steering up-grade and ground cable up-grade with no problems after the ground cables were installed:2thumbs:
Dealer did good on both!
.
2 happy Spyder Owners in PA.:spyder::spyder:
