photos test

This is a test to check out a method for proper orientation of photos.
Photo on right-- taken with iPhone 11, holding phone vertical (portrait mode).

Photo in the middle--photo taken with iPhone 11, tilting phone top to the left 90 degrees.

Photo on the left--photo taken with same phone, vertical (portrait mode)..but I opened the photo and rotated it 360 degrees; saved it, and it posted in proper orientation.

I've been doing the 3rd option on all photos posted over the past 6-8 months and it works every time.

PLEASE NOTE: I'm not trying to usurp Peter's instructions, just offering this as a point of interest.

Thank you for this John. I think our Spyders are supposed to be delivered to the house later today. Maybe I’ll try your suggestion and give posting photos another try.

Thanks. I took those photos early morning without much lighting, just for the test, so they're pretty crude.
The Treehouse is a comfortable log home of modest size. It can't be seen from the street in summer and I can't see another house (but others are nearby).

I don't think anything you've done/shown there ^ is at odds with what I've been telling people for ages; in fact, if you look back at some of my earlier posts on the subject, I believe that there is more than one post back there where I suggest using a photo-editor to re-assign the 'Anchor Point', which is effectively what you've done in your 3rd option.

But I think it's pretty clear from your post showing those pics - with:

• Your pic on the right, taken with the phone in Portrait mode & displaying the pic sideways; followed by;
• Your pic in the middle, taken by rotating the phone counter-clockwise 90°, turning it to Landscape mode, & then displaying the pic in the correct orientation;

that as I've been saying in my 'shorter version' posts on how to do this -

the SIMPLEST METHOD of getting your pics to display in the correct orientation every time is to simply take them in Landscape mode as suggested, then upload them -​

that way, they'll display correctly, every time! hyea:

So there clearly ARE other methods that work to achieve the correct orientation/display of pics, you've shown one that works above, a method that I've made mention of previously, but all of the other methods (that I can think of anyway! ) involve more action/more steps than simply taking the pic in Landscape mode as suggested. Still, if anyone is trying to post up an image that they DIDN'T originally take in Landscape mode for whatever reason, opening it in an editor or other software and then, as you've done, doing whatever is necessary to re-assign the Anchor Point to the top left corner of the orientation that you want it to appear in is one way of getting the job done! So thanks for showing that clearly! :thumbup:
