• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The governor announced that the annual PFD (Permanent Fund Dividend) will be $1,884 per person this year. That is almost double from last year. The shopping will begin the first week of October. Oil is good! :roflblack::roflblack:

The PFD plus no state income tax (for now) makes our state a bit different from most. You have to be a resident of the state for a couple years before the PFD kicks in though.

Neet - we just get no state income tax and no state sales tax, but they don't pay us to live here. Oh well, I guess that'll have to do.

Can you still get airline tickets in lieu if a check? Back in 1995, before terrorists, I bought round trip tickets from DC to Anchirage from a neighbor who hit them from a son's permanent fund. I think we paid $300 each and we flew under their names.

Problem with that is you need ID to fly now don't you?

I am not aware of any exchanges for airline tickets. I started getting pfd's from the fund in about 2003. You can do a checkoff to donate to a gazillion different funds though. :roflblack:

:congrats: :2thumbs:

Gee.
Here in CT, we get to pay state income tax, state sales tax and property tax.
Just to make sure they can wrest every penny from the populace, there is also a personal property tax, which means I get to pay a couple hundred dollars a year just to own my Spyder.

We do have property tax, none on the personal stuff though, and some Boroughs have adopted sales tax. The state will probably move to a state income tax and sales tax all over, once the oil bonanza is over. I sure would not want to be a legislator when the PFD is discontinued, and the state income tax begins. :yikes:
