Today I discovered my parking brake is not holding. What can I do besides take it back to the dealer?

If it is not holding, adjust it. If it is not clicking and latching spray a little WD40 on the latch under the frame by the pedal.Today I discovered my parking brake is not holding. What can I do besides take it back to the dealer?
Depending on how much adjust you'll need this may help:
In addition, the adjustment procedure and how to adjust the lever on the spline is in the service manual - this is if you need a much bigger adjustment then just a cable adjustment.
Both -cable and spline- are straight forward to perform in your garage at home.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

I need to do this too - Didn't figure out that it didn't work until I was a couple states away from Cow-town
Mine wasn't behaving correctly either, right after getting it. Then I figured out part of the issue is, its catching on the belt guard. Anyone else dealing, having dealt with, this? I have a pretty steep driveway, and my local gas station is pretty angled thus the extra push now and then, on the park brake.

I went back to the old VW problem solver of parking brake problems and use a BRICK! :yikes: :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
This after the non tech installed the new cable wrong at the pedal linkage. :gaah:
This problem only affected the early Spyders, mostly the PE GS version.I wrote in earlier post, but did you get the notice about the faulty parking brake? Was this work done? If not, you should have it done...it fixes the problem...
Well, we kept tinkering with the parking brake and finally got it to hold.
:roflblack: For some reason I wouldn't really feel right about carrying a brick in my trunk all the time; however, it may have been better than the few times I had to rely on backing the rear wheel against a curb to keep my Spyder from rolling away on its own.
Forgetting about the brick when I was ready to drive off was another problem.:roflblack:
When I was a young construction worker, we were assigned a beat up old International crew cab for a work truck. The parking brake was toast. We stopped at a coffee shop, and parked on an incline, but the truck kept rolling back. Quickly thinking, I jumped out and stuck my fiberglass hardhat behind the wheel. When we left the coffee shop, we forgot about it, until the truck tire was squarely on top. That lasted about five seconds, until the hardhat shattered and collapsed. Unfortuantely, we had run into the department director and the superintendent at the coffee shop, and they saw the whole thing. The hardhat problem was nothing, compared to the chewing out I endured. Do not use your helmet to block the Spyder wheel. :roflblack:Forgetting about the brick when I was ready to drive off was another problem.:roflblack:
