There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Open or Enclosed Trailer to Haul Motorcycles – Thoughts?

Yes, and VERY pricey for it. Saw a used one just the other day on CL - $5000. I don't have that kind of money. I'll use an open trailer unless I can get a great deal on a used enclosed one.

I had a buddy that pulled a HD across a coupe of states on an open trailer, got pretty bad damage to the aluminum and shiny stuff due to a combination of road grime/debris and rain. He swore off open haulers after that.

Credit my wife with a good idea that works well for us. We have two RT's which needed a covered place to stay. She suggested we get an enclosed trailer that would serve double duty as a place to store the Spyders in the riding months, and in the winter when we have garage space because she has our van in Arizona for the winter, I bring the Spyders into the garage and the trailer serves as a place where my duck and goose decoys are locked up and easy to access. We have a Haulmark Passport 8 x 20. It gives us plenty of space. I upgraded the cheapo tires to Goodyear Endurance tires immediately.
GMC Duramax pulls it well.

OOps I just can't help myself.... Motors are electric and Engines are Gas, Diesel, propane, natural gas, and so on .

Both trailers (enclosed and open) have there pros and cons I'm still trying to decide what to go with myself.

I have a small 6 x 12 Haulmark Edge Lowhauler. My F3S fits well and easily. And I have hauled a ton of other item. Enclosed gets my vote.

I have both and have hauled the Spyder on both. I found the open trailer on line here in Utah cheap. It is 7x12 . It was a snowmobile trailer so the bed tilts which makes for easy loading. I use it for local short distances. The enclosed trailer is also my garage/storage facility. I use it to take the Spyder longer distances when my wife wants come. She wont ride long distances so I haul to the riding area then we ride. I did use the open trailer to go to San Diego from Utah and it was just fine.

Don't you love these old posts being dredged up!!!:roflblack: But maybe to help you out a little bit, all the years I have pulled sleds down the road I have found that a enclosed trailer in my eyes is the best way! I would hate to haul my bike down the road in a open trailer, hit a rain storm, get to where you have to go and spend the next two hours cleaning the bike before you dare put your butt on the dirty seat!!And that dirt is going to be in places!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:spyder:

Hubby and I are looking to get a trailer to pull my Spyder and his Goldwing on long distance trips that we don’t have the time to ryde too do to that little thing called work. I was wondering what other motorcycle enthusiast’s think as far as pro’s and con’s are of an open trailer versus an enclosed trailer. Also wondering what brand of trailers other spyderlovers may be using. :dg2:

"no brainer" Enclosed always. Look or Wells Cargo are two very good reliable brands. Dual Axle (4 tires) will serve you best in case of flat tire. (you can drive at reduced speed to have tire replaced if need be)
