• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

hello, between my father and me we hooked up the battery backwards on a 2010 RT . we heard the fan running, and then smelled smoke.
then hooked up battery correctly, then got zip pop noise , and then alot of smoke. i assume it was the power regulator. and who knows what else we might have damaged. i was posting to see if anyone had done or heard of this , and trying to get a jump start on getting this thing going again, thanks for any input. have a good day.:opps:

So sorry this happened to you. First place I would check is the main fuse. Not sure where the fuse box is located on a 2010, but hopefully the fuse did it's job and sacrificed itself!

Fuses typically blow in 100's of milliseconds which isn't fast enough to protect modern electronic devices. In the last half century EE designers have learned to put a device, typically a diode, in the path to block reverse current and sometimes a second device to short circuit the wrong-direction current and blow the fuse. Unfortunately, bean-counters often see the protection devices as an unneeded expense and they are removed from the design.

Let's hope Can-Am has reverse connection protection. Otherwise it's going to be a very expensive and unhappy day.

Smoke is Bad

:chat:...Electrical Smoke is ALWAYS a Bad Boy.
So Sorry for your issues with your Spyder.

Good Luck with Your Mission and keep us posted.
