I'v read with interest these subjects from this sight ,now for those interested I'll pass on what I'v done.
Bought a 2014 RT-S SE6 in May 2014
Took my time Breaking it in. Always used 87 octane. Within 1000 mi noticed rear tire wear in tire center. Dropped air pressure from 28 to 24 because wear indicated to high air pressure. At 3500 mi changed oil and filter. Put in 6 qt, I decided on Amsoil 10-40 motorcycle oil. And noticed more rear tire wear in center, dropped pressure to 19. At 7300 mi tire looked to bad for long trip planned, probably could have got to 8000, but at 7300 I installed a Sumitomo 215-60-15 . Tire works great. I checked oil q 1000 mi. Oil always looked like I just put it in. 5000 on oil looked new. Checked oil often Always looked good and felt good. Always right on full mark and clean. At 13700 ,or 10400 mi. on oil I changed oil and filter again. Spring came 2015. I live in Michigan. Took a trip to Colorado, in colo. I used 85 octane. toured state for 5 days, and rode up pikes peak. Motor has always ran great on 87 and 85 octane. 20000 another trip around north side of Lake Superior. Check oil often ,always on full, and feels good, at 23700 or 10000 on oil start to darken in color.Watch oil close. Always on full, oil feels good, motor starts and runs like new, Has always shifted like the day I bought it. At 29300 I change oil and BOTH filters. 15600 on this oil, Amsoil 10-40 motorcycle oil. Oil was dark not black , sent in a sample.viscosity came back 12.2 .
That's high 30s. A 30 wt. oil is plenty of protection for this Ace 1330 motor. I don't understand all the rest of the info. on the test but the co. rates it normal. Needless to say I,m happy with this oil. 15000 oil change interval no problem.
Rear tire now has going on 23000 mi on it and looks about 1/3 worn. Nice even flat wear. Handles much better too. No belts on the stock tire, that's why it bulges out in the center and will wear out the center 2 inches of the tire. Going down the road you are running on the center 2 inches not the 225 mm. Front tires are good yet at 30000+ miles. Maybe half worn out . Trans filter change no big deal once the panels are off. No venting was necessary.

Yep, the Kenda rear tire is junk. Looks like you are getting great mileage on the Sumitomo tire. Doing oil analysis is the way to go to see how the oil is doing. I believe there was a bulletin about how much oil to run in the 1330 ACE engine, someone with the knowledge will comment on that. Here is the thread:http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?82580-Oil-Level-on-1330-engined-Spyders-Chapter-II&highlight=amount+1330

I'v read all about the oil level changes. 5 qt brings it to the add level. I run it there awhile, no added power no change in shifting. Added 1/2 qt brought it to middle of run range, no added power ,no change in shifting, so I put in the other 1/2 qt for a total of 6 qt, puts it on the full mark with no ill effects or power loss. BUT if your going to run 10000 to 15000 on a oil change I think more oil is better, as long as its not to much. I cant see from the way the motor runs that 6 qt is too much. Just my take

I have a 2012 and have no experience with the 1330 except for riding a couple RT's and F3's with them. Just passing on some info. The other positive I have learned running a 215/60/15 tire is it puts the speedo almost right on with the GPS speed.

Also this sumitomo tire is rated for 85000 mi. Cost me $75.00 del. to my door. My next tire will be a Michelin rated for 95000 for $125.00. But I gotta wear out the sumitomo first

I'm running a Michelin Primacy right now which is a 60,000 mile tire and I'm hoping for 20,000 miles, I have 15,000 miles on it now. I think my next one will be a General Altimax RT-43 rated for 75,000. The wet ratings on Tire Rack are excellent for this tire.

 Gee... We've got nothing to argue about in here... :2thumbs:
Thanks for the hones assessment, and careful record-keeping! :firstplace:

I don't know what this rating means. The sumomoto was rated for 85,000. Went on at 7300 mi. The Michelin went on at 49,000. The sumomoto had at least 10,000 mi. Left yet. Changed because of long trip. Bike now has 87,000 mi on. Michelin maybe half worn out. You all won't believe this. Front tires started to dish a little got out of balance a little. At 50,000 switched sides rebalanced. Rebalance no good.. At55,000 rebalance again no good. Dishing did look better..so I run her above or below the vibration point (60 mph).65,000 pulled tires off, turned them around and remounted and rebalanced them. Rebalance still no good. 70,000 bought wheel balancers for $200. From lamonce. Didn't help. I started checking balance procedures. The factory puts all weights on center of wheel and tire. My rebalance jobs were splitting weight up to edge of wheel. Well I got 81,000 mi out of those dam kendas. I replaced them with continentals. The co I delt with set there machine up to put weight on like can amm on wheel ,tire center. When the continentals went on I took the wheel balancers off. Now perfect ballance handles better, going for 100,000

I'm running the General Altimax RT43 on the rear of the spyder, and I have 16,176 miles on the rear. Also, I have a lot of tread left, and the ratings on the General Altimax are excellent.

I have a 2014RTS-SE6.

Me, I use an old manure spreader cleated steel wheel on the back. Can't beat the traction but creates a

little vibration. Works great until you have a tail wind. At that time you have to hold your nose with one

hand and steer with the other.

All tires wear different

I've tried several brands of rear tires. I ran two Kumho Solus, it was much better than stock Kendas
They both lasted around 20,000 miles. Then reading this forum I bought the General Altimax RT43
215-60-15. I get 25,000 plus each of these. I run 20# pressure and they wear flat across the tread.
Good tires, but I'm always looking for something better. Maybe this new Michelin Mike the Blue Knight
suggested? My next tire change.
