There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Oil in airbox, Possible new solution?

After 1500 miles my '09 RS developed the usual messy airbox. I will try to link my pictures. Its simple, 1/2" barbs male and female with stainless airater screens pressed into the joint. I used 2 screens but maybe more would be better. So far its working very well! I hope my links work. Any and all comments welcome. Max.

oil

so your cool little device keeps the oil from blowing up the hose into the airbox? your design is very clever, nice work:clap:

This is a problem discovered along with leaky stock air filters and a good idea to take care of. You have oil collecting in the airbox and debris sneaking past the stock filter, not a good combo and eventually messy.
Several peeps have been installing pnuematic air/water separators or something as simple as as some extra line, a "T" fitting and catch bottle and the Evoluzione or Green perfomance air filter at the very least.

Looks promising. Let us know how it works after some more mileage. I've been using a 1/2 inch cube of air filter foam material stuffed into the hose for quite a while now. Works well and have experienced no problems.

:agree:3 Years now with the foam and not a drop of oil in the air box.

Yes I saw your post in a previous thread and I wanted to use your idea but I couldn't find any foam locally. The spyder was apart and the weather was good so I thought if I tried my idea I would have a great excuse for a long (long) test ride. Your success with the foam was at least part of my idea to use a layered screen. Anyway I will post if I have any long term success or failure. I'm always a fan of K.I.S.S. (keep it simple and stupid). What ever it takes to keep the oil in the engine and not dripping on a hot exhaust manifold.

I won't go into detail here; but, if you are in a cold climate, you may want to be careful with a fine mesh screen. Boborgera's suggestion of the filter would probably be fine.

I actually contacted 6 people by pm with my theory about the fine mesh screen in the vent to the airbox, in March 2011 after developing a problem. I'll say one person flat out told me no; everybody is entitled to their opinion. I'm sticking to mine.

maxhdrm2,

If you are interested, pm me. I think I still have my theory in my pm's.
