• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil Change Question

OK, I've got got all the Tupperware off, my drain pan in place, and I can't get the @$&¥%€ drain plug loose. I had my last oil change at the dealer and they either put this plug in waaaaay too tight (probably closer to 150lbs. Than 15) or they used a barrel of Loctite on it. Either way it's not budging any suggestions?
 
Well..!!

sadly you have to get the roadster up pretty high to use an impact driver. Little less if you have an air impact. So if you hit the drain plug with a hammer some (not violently) then put the allen key in and hit that as well help break up crystallized oil around threads. If you have a socket allen use a longer bar and jerk the bar increasing pressure. Don't solid pull tends to strip out either the allen or the plug. If this should happen use a cold chisel on the edge of the drain plug to remove it..good luck..!! Then replace it with a hex head from auto parts store...

Slow steady pressure while making sure you hold the bit squarely in place or you'll strip things. It'll either come loose or break the bolt. What ever you do - don't jerk on it.
 
Be careful when you are applying pressure when trying to get them out. You dont want to round out the hex hole in the drain plug. If you do some have used a hex bit to get them out. It sounds like it might be a good time swap out your oil drain plugs with the bolt head ones. I plan on doing this at my next oil change.

Chupaca is a genius!

Couple of light taps with a hammer and one good tug on the breaker and off it came. Thanks Chupaca and thanks M109dreamer for the bolt Henderson plug suggestion, think I will do just that.
 
Glad you got it out. I was going to say try using a hammer operated impact driver usually two or three raps is all it takes for the hard ones
