My first oil change, More dealer screw up's

OK so I had the dealer do the first oil change and alignment and fix a few rattles and a fast blinking directional light.

So the engine drain plug comes out easy enough. the trans drain plug ..HA : it's just a round hole :yikes::banghead:

I'm glad I kept some of my tools when I retired because I can assure you the dealer would blame me for stripping it out.

what should have taken me an hour took just about 4, I started at 7am and finished just before 11am.

Some of these guys are hacks.

The only good thing so far with this trike is I don't have any of the problems that some people have.

Here's a picture of the drain plug and a few of my little shop and the tire I PRAY I can get put on.

You going in the right direction.

Never let a dealership touch your Spyder and you will be way ahead.

Get a good shop fan and don't try to work in the afternoons on the really hot days.

They also got little portable air conditioners that you can roll around to where you need them.

What you saved changing your own oil would buy one.


Yeah, saw the box fan in the pictures. I got big, steel blade, 3 speed fan that can cause small craft warning flags to go up.

My garage stays around 90°F during the summer. I use a combination of fan, and a movable portable air conditioner. It never gets below 80°, but it helps. I position the fan to direct the cooler a/c air towards the area I'm working in. It helps. If I get to hot, I just jump in the pool. I also use this method when I work out in the shop. I worked in engine room's and engineering spaces all over the world that were a whole lot hotter. Drink lots of fluids. Cheers!

If you haven't already, next time you change your oil, change the drain plugs to hex head drain plugs.

NICE tire :2thumbs: Someone must have used an Allen wrench too small in that plug to round out that hole bad enough to not be able to get it out!! When I was still using the old drain plugs, I always put the right shaped tool in and gave them a little tap with a hammer to make sure they were seated in the plug! Now I just put a socket on them! Why would someone put two different style plugs in the block like that, doing the same thing anyway?

I did and if I was not taking this trip to Maine on the 16th I would be riding it now. I felt I did not have enough time to get use to a new bike in such a short window of time. I pray it will be available when I get back

I save everything (seriously) I had a broken easy-out from at least 15 years ago that was the perfect fit to get a bite on it so I could remove it.

still took forever to do though.
