It's gonna happen!

I can't believe it happened. What a wild experience, something that I needed and it had such a good turn out...it's gonna happen again! Quite a memorable visual of an open track day. Super Moto's, pockets bikes, liter machines, v-twins sports and shifter carts. That track was so sticky, I had no need for a 3rd wheel much of the time, nanny is sleeping good tonight. I hope the photographer got some good shots, I need a few.

Where is this? When is the next track day? How does someone sign up? What is the cost to get on the track?

This is an all purpose track sponsored by Musselman Honda here in Tucson. It allows go carts, shifter carts, pocket bikes, supermoto, maybe more and now an occasional motorcycle night. This was the first and met with great success, they do plan to do it again at this point. You can sign up with Tucsonsb.com(tucson sportbike) and watch the rides as they are posted. This was the first, it may get tweeked a little and they may raise the fee. This initial test required helmet, jacket, gloves, pants and boots. Some taped up lights, I did not...this may become mandatory, but spyders may be allowed to slide. Obviously were not going to go down, although...I was on 2 wheels quite alot. There was way more traction and much tighter here than any street I have been on. The VSS was very busy and I was worn out. I loved it, felt like I had been at the gym all day. I think they are going to try to set up an exclusive Tucson sportbike and Tucson sport rider night to eliminate all the other activity(supermoto, pit bike, carts), but you can ride one if you are a member. Hopefully they will leave this a very basic assembly, some people are already going in the direction of a regular AMA track day, I hope not, it will die off. Nobody is interested in that level of rules and restriction. Just 1 step above the streets...no cops or traffic or traffic signs and lights. Just some personal integrity and riding within your limits. No risk taking or competition that puts others in harms way.:2thumbs:

It's sudden notice, but it's happening this weekend. Another track day. I can't make it, my weekend is already full.

Heyyyy....Happening again on Aug 26th and 27th. This is getting some life and a 2 night format is in effect along with interest/experience level. I'm going Friday night, it's the novice night and cheaper. Bring a machine and give it a try. Saturday will be more track bike orientated, probably sport machines and leather only.

Good/bad, the interest has really grown and so has the attendance. Too many for a Spyder to participate, maybe next time. It's gettin' serious, gonna have to find and prep a track bike.

I would really like to take the wifes :spyder2: around the track. Could you post up the schedule or web site. Might have to make a ride down and try it out. I have been wanting to get my 9 on the track as well.
Thanks,
Shane & Sarah

Gaaaaah...this is going south really fast. Trying to get the organizers to still hold an open night, some of us aren't interested in AMA instructional police. Just want to roll around on a track a little, that's all.

Not sure if they will allow Spyders anymore, but TSB is having a novice/intermediate track day at Musselman track on November 19th from 9am to ?. If they do allow it will probably be with the novice riders, it is $40.00 if you happen to be have a Musselman yearly membership and $60 with out membership. A mandatory track meeting starts at 10 am if they do allow it and you want to ride. They may allow it if attendance is small enough, looks like regardless of it being a Spyder, they may require you to still tape up your headlights and turn signal and wear full textile or leather. I am going to try to go and at least watch for a while.

YESSSSS...because of all the track day activity between Phoenix and Deming, looks like and oppurtunity has risen to do it again tomorrow. Because of a bad weather forecast, think I'll give the Buell the day off and give the Spyder another play day.

Ok, had a GREAT time on the Buell at this track tonight. It was an open event for sportbikes, didn't make an effort soon enough to the right people if it was "Spyder Friendly". Once there, I located the man in charge(Charlie) and asked him if there was a problem with bringing the Spyder out again and he said "NO!". I then asked about having a Spyder session and he was fine with that, said it sounded good. Depending on the number of those interested, we could either have the track to ourselves or be scheduled in between sessions of shifter carts or go carts or motorcycles. If attendance is low, no event may occur and they would simply work us in with a sportbike night.
The monsoon will be around Arizona soon(usually on and off between June and August), this track is open year round! Contact could be made to set us up 2~3 months from now, depending on season it could be a day or night session, the facilities are fully lit.
If anyone is interested.

Here's the next event. He would most likely run Spyders between bike sessions. It's also a fun evet to watch. Jake Holden and others often show. A night of various vehicles to watch depending on attendance...high speed shifter carts, super motos, sportbikes, pocket bikes.

Ok...tomorrow it is, 21st of July. My Spyder is my primary vehicle and just came out of inspection and tune-up, I'm going on the Buell again. Starts at 4pm, but after being on a flightline all day, think I'll wait until 6. Fun to watch if nothing else, see you there IF the monsoon behaves.

Well, is was a great time! Had to ride through some rain on the trip there, but it was nice to arrive and find a dry track. Didn't notice any Spyders in the parking area, maybe next time.
