• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OEM Backrest Adjustable Upgrade Kit

Driver adjustable Backrest Kit

I installed the kit with the help of my brother as the second hand. Seems to fit ok but it is now about one inch above the seat. Is that what everyone else has? Stock seat and backrest on a 2015 RT.

No, as with the previous non-adjustable backrest I had to slide it in, wiggle around a little to get it the rest of the way down and when it clicked to show it was locked in place the backrest was all the way down against the seat as it should be. Mine is the comfort seat and backrest but that shouldn't make any difference. There are 2 models of kit, one for production seat and one for comfort seat, production seat stock number ends i a 2, the comfort seat is same stock number except ends in a 3, make sure you have the correct kit.

Just installed mine and I'm happy with it. Regarding the cover zippers, I very light lubricated them with a litle Tri-Flow and ran a short piece of thin, coated electrical wire through the hole where the zipper pull would ordinarily be, in order to create a pull rather than trying to use needle nosed pliers or something similar to move the zippers up and down. I did at one point get an edge of the fabric zipper backing caught, so be mindful of that as well when moving the zippers up and down. Otherwise, it was an easy installation.

Installed mine last weekend

Mine arrived last week and I installed this past weekend. Just need to make the final adjustment once it's back on spyder. I used a paper clip as a pull on the seat zipper and it worked great. The rest was quite straight forward. I'm hopeful it will make the backrest even more comfortable for the long ride to Spyderfest this coming spring!

Your paper clip idea is a great one. I got to looking today and questioning whether or not I got the spring in correctly. Is the backrest supposed to 'spring' back (after bending it forward and then releasing it) all the way on it's own until it is stopped by the adjustment screw? Mine has some 'spring back' to it but it stops before hitting the screw, so until I push it back or lean against it there's a slight lean forward. Normal or should I reposition the spring?

I would double check your spring

Mine definitely springs back with some good "spring" to it. That was one part of the install that took a little finagling. I kind of had to load the spring and then line the fork up with the bolt and barrel.

Took your advice and reinstalled the spring, this time the correct way. Makes a big difference. Thanks so much.

Hopefully our backs will thanks us both

Im looking forward to a few more weeks when we can get them out for test rides. I'm also contemplating taking my stock seat in for some cushion surgery at the local upholstery shop. The owner is a spyder rider as well, so I'm hoping he might have some suggestions to make the stock seat a bit more comfortable.

Just installed mine and I'm happy with it. Thanks to the info on the forum I ordered the adjustable upgrade for the factory backrest and it made a huge difference. I was ready to give it away because of the fixed position was not comfortable. Now I can easily adjust the angle and it is very comfortable. I feel much more secure on the bike as a result of using the backrest.
