• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Now the frunk won't open.

This was never a problem before :sour: the put put went in for service, and maybe I am an idiot but now the frunk will not open :(. Paid no attention to it until I needed to actually use all that RT-S storage. Made it home, but was lucky this was a light trip

If the button AND key aren't doing the trick then something has slipped up... :gaah: I know that Scotty has talked about the "frunking" mechanism at length; perhaps a search through the old threads can get you pointed in the right direction. Good Luck and let us know what you find!

Does it seem to be twisted to one side? I had the same problem and its still not perfect. The latch system needs to be adjusted if not the frunk lid itself. Lubricant helps also. Good luck.

First, the basics. For the 2011 Spyder the key must be on for the electric release to work. I hope you have done that. (BTW, for the 2010 Spyder the engine must be running.) Have you tried using the ignition switch? Push the key down and turn counterclockwise. If that opens the trunk but the panel switch will not, the latch probably needs to be adjusted and lubed. If neither works, you can try pushing down on the lid while pushing and turning the ignition switch. Usually that works. Note that the trunk latch is very sensitive to being overloaded and having something pushing against the lid. Pushing on the lid can help here. If nothing will work, your dealer will have to intervene again. Best of luck.

When pushing on the lid, push the top-center to relieve the back pressure on the latch.

Not sure if you mean it will not open at all or will not work with the remote trunk switch. If it is the remote trunk switch I bet the dealer bent the micro switch arm when he took off the black access panel (the one you take off to access the radiator water fill). If the cover is not take off right the switch arm is easliy bent to one side and no longer touches the button on the switch when the trunk is closed. Open the trunk manually with the key and check to see if it bent or possible not even visible (it may be bent so far you can not see it with the access cover still on. In either case, remove the access panel and you can clearly see the micro switch at the right side, close to the middle of the trunk. Carefully bend it back so when the trunk closes it will push the lever down and activate the switch.

The switch tells the bike if the trunk is open or not. I have not tried it at speed but I believe that it prevents a driver from accidently opening the trunk while moving the same as the display panel will not allow you do do certain fuctions once you get moving more than a few miles per hour. (Someone correct me if I am wrong about the purpose of the micro switch).

Good luck,

Randy

My switch did not open my trunk. So I used the key to open the trunk and this worked. Then I tried the switch again and it worked. This was on a RT-Limited.

I bent mine once... take a look in there an make sure that the parts are all lining up... It's an easy fix; just some more bending...:opps: The Frunk WILL open with the key if this is the only problem.

Thanks for the advice all, finally got it to open with manual latch and now the electronic latch is working swell.
