Not happy with LED headlights

I put on some LED headlights on my wife's F3, and I don't see much of a difference between the low, and high beams. Has anyone else noticed this?

Plus, I think the oem halogen lights were brighter on the high beams.

I sent an email to the retailer, and he says that: 'The difference in the lo and hi is because Led's are running both on the same filaments unlike halogen where the second one is separate so there is a significant change. Plus the amount of current and amp is less than half that of the halogen so the voltage difference also plays part in that.'

I am not happy with them, and I may put the halogen ones back in.

I have heard ................................ that if you put them in upside down you will not notice any difference between low and high. :dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:

But other than that i have no comment, except to say Don't call Lamont ....................... Call the vendor you got it from

I have the LED's from Lamont and they are far brighter than the OEM Halogens. They are also paired with his Fog light kit.

I have Lamonsters LED headlight kit and fog light kit installed and I love them. Bright white lights not yellowish. I heard Tricled r just as great.:2thumbs: I guess to each their own.;)

I have the Xenondepot LED kit, and it's bright AF. I usually work an afternoon shift and end up riding home around 3am, almost any car I pass by highbeams me as my lights are so bright. What I will say is that there is no difference of light output between regular beam and highbeam; the beam pattern changes slightly but light output remains the same, majorly bright.

Not sure how this could be done, but there are some creatively dumb people out there. The LED or whatever bulb if properly built should fit in one position only. Most times the tabs on the base are keyed at different angles.
I believe that Lamont's LED installation video showed the proper way to align things...
Twisting the outside ring? :dontknow:
So if orientation is important; perhaps it's just a matter of an adjustment...

I have the LED headlight bulbs from TricLED on my F3-S and love them. I can definitely tell the difference between low and high beam. Much better than the OEM bulbs.

But, are you getting the equivalent coverage from the LED's?
IMHO, that's the real question, because looks don't always count, especially if I'm having to compromise my visibility and range of coverage. I'm just not willing to make the shift when it results in a decrease.
:2thumbs:

I'm also a happy camper with my addition of TricLed LED Head/Fog lights.
As I have posted before, the difference to me is night & day to the oem bulbs.

Lamonts bulbs are unique. They are the only bulb I have ever seen that requires alignment. Every other brand I am aware of has the bulbs baseplate aligned to the LED output at manufacture and molded in that position.

Not slamming what Lamont sells, just find it oddly unique.

For comparison, the BRP Can Am HID bulbs produce a dead level beam pattern without adjustment. My Cyclops high output LEDs for both the headlights and foglights also produced a dead level beam pattern out of the box with no adjustment.

Again, not slamming the Lamont LEDs, just find them unique with that feature.

I have installed Lamonts LED headlight bulbs (as well as fog lights) and the difference between the OEM bulbs and his are night and day. IMOH they literally punch a hole in the darkness. They come pre-clocked and I did not find any need to adjust them. I would admit, when I first decided to order them I was a bit skeptical since I have never used LEDs for headlights (all my other head light conversions on my other bikes have always been to HIDs from DDM Tuning). Needless to say, I was very impressed with the amount of light and the spread.

My $.02

I have attached pictures of the low beam, and the high beam on a dark road that I took tonight.

I put the camera in the same place, and took the pictures one right after the other.

I did see a small difference when I took the picture, but the pictures that came out look virtually the same.

I just don't see a real notable difference in the pic's. It's definitely not at the top of my "Upgrade" list. :sour:

I have sent the vendor the same pictures. I am not sure if they check out posts like this.

I was just wondering if maybe I got a bad set of lights, or something. Like I said. I have a 2014 Valkyrie with a LED headlight, and it is easily twice as bright for both the low, and high beam, but the reflectors in the headlight are made for the LED placement.

Does anyone else have any pictures at night of their lights on a dark road that we can compare?

Nobody has suggested aiming the headlights. I adjusted mine and my wife's. I don't remember an up or down position for the bulbs from xeondepot. As long as the elements are placed horizontal. I tried them both ways on both bikes. Couldn't see any difference.

If you're getting flashed it's more likely that your lights are not properly aligned, not because of the brightness. This can happen with stock bulbs as well, but with LED's you have a change in the pattern which may require some adjustment to them....

I tried the Tricled bulbs (Reggie is great and sells great stuff), but didn't like them. The light pattern is very different and not as effective in my opinion. A duller bulb when properly focused is better than just 'bright' splattered all over.

Nothing will compare to HID's. I had them on my 2008 GS and man I could light up a football field with all 4 turned on.

I had three cars pull off the road in front of me yesterday. :dontknow: I'm guessing that it has to do with the LEDs...

If you are driving with your lights on low beam and go over uneven roads--the lights will appear as if you are flashing them to the cars in front of you. They seem to have a bluish tint--giving the perception that you may be a police vehicle. The usual cure is riding in daytime with the high beams on. I don't have LED's, but the same happens on both our :spyder2:'s.
