• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Yup!
I don't know what it means... but that's what the code says... :dontknow:
The throttle won't engage... is the cruise control somehow locked-on? :yikes: (Wild brainstroming...)

Adjustment or..!!

may need mechanical adjustment or a computer update through BUDS. According to code but try letting the computer reset and try again. Don't know if your testing could have changed or messed with the sensor. It also mentions the ecm...lets us know how it goes..!! :gaah:

tried everything I could but no luck :banghead::banghead: Dealership came and towed :spyder2: away. Hope it's nothing serious :pray::pray: Will hear from them when diagnosed:yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes:

Good Luck!

still waiting to hear anything:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn: I want to go down there and hang until they find the problem:mad::mad::mad:

I agree with needing a new throttle body :gaah::gaah: I just  it's covered under extended warranty. :spyder2: is just over 2 years old.

It should be...
(If you're hanging out at the dealers; take coffee and donuts! :2thumbs:)

Is WOT testing easy to explain?? Thanks Gary

Basically it's when you hold the throttle wide open and press the start button. It allows you to check the cranking amps w/o starting the engine if you think your battery is bad or dead. do not recommend doing this unless it's your last resort. I wish I didn't even know about it. :sour::sour::sour: There's a thread on it if you do a search for dead battery or something similar.

...and believe it or not it comes from the shop manual.

Well it's official. Throttle body/assembly needs to be replaced :gaah: How am I going to survive with no riding for approx 10-14 days? :banghead::banghead: Gonna have to drink the days away:p:cheers::p:cheers::p:cheers:

What exactly is failing on the throttle bodies and why cant it be repaired rather than replaced?
I have yet to find a picture here on SL of what this looks like?
Since I have a 2011 might it be good to order one and have it handy?

Bob

It is the throttle positioner on most, althought there are other failures. The way I understand it the positioner is calibrated to the throttle body during manufacture, and is neither adjustable or available separately. I can't be sure of that, but replacing the throttle body is the service bulletin prescribed repair.

They run about 825$ :yikes:

For error code P1614, the 2010 RT service manual says:

Involved Module:
-ECM

Description:
-Throttle idle position failure on throttle release

Cause:
-Throttle mechanical adjustment No initialization after throttle body/EM replacement

Service Action:
-Check throttle mechanical adjustment
-Check idle stop for wear
-Ensure throttle plate is against throttle stop
-Check throttle angle at idle
-Perform THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR RESET in B.U.D.S. with throttle completely off
-Refer to the service manual for more details.

This has been superceded by Warranty Bulletin 2011-7, which calls for throttle body replacement if that code is found.
