I had a ride today and was so sorry I had my exhaust pipes wrapped. It started out at 40 degrees got as low as 39 degrees with a high of 43 degrees. I was trying to sit at red lights and get warm but the wind was always a darn crosswind at 10/20 MPH.
my analog heat gauge never got above the 3 o'clock position. Mostly stayed at 4 o'clock!
I now know that what I thought was cold weather gear is ready to be classified as cooler then cool weather gear. I was wishing for my snowsuit and wind proof over-garments that I had back in the 1990's. But we gave them away!!!!

Took a long ride with some riders from Volusia Spyder Ryders group. The temperature was in the middle 50's when we left Daytona Fun Machines and my analog heat gauge was in the 2nd block from the bottom. During our ride to Crescent City for lunch the gauge stayed 3/4 up of the bottom block cruising at 45 MPH in 4th gear. On the way back we upped the speed to 55/60 and 5th gear at times and it went down to 1/4 of the bottom block. The lowest I have ever seen it go since we bought it. Makes me wish for a digital gauge with a degree read out.
Tried a new procedure on the before riding protocol. While gearing up in the garage I pre-warmed the engine for about 5 minutes. When we backed out of the garage there was no clunk noise. The first and second shifts were so silent I had to look at the panel to make sure I had really shifted gears.
