• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So I am starting to do oil changes myself now after I had dealer do initial 600mi service. Just wonder what everyone is using for replacement filter and what kind of oil? Was thinking about ordering a few K&N oil filters to have some on hand and running Amsoil. I seen the poll on here about what oil everyone uses and amsoil was the highest so I am thinking I am going with that. I could not find anything on the actual filters though?

You can contact BajaRon on this site and get his info on filter and o ring packages.. pretty good pricing

 BajaRon site sponsor. Easy to deal with and great prices on O-rings,chrush washers, oil and tranny filters.Don't forget to pull your oil strainer so you will need a worm clamp as well.

Is he a dealer of some kind?
He is a spyderlover Sponsor and good friend of Lamont's. An independent dealer of various motorcycle stuff. his banner is on sponsor page of this site. I know several folks that have ordered from him and been pleased

Bottom of the oil tank you'll see a hose with a factory clamp [oetiker clamp] You have to cut that clamp off to remove the hose.,
There's a strainer in the tank at the end of the hose, Clean the strainer then use a worm clamp in place of the oetiker.

Gotcha, thanks! First time I have heard of that.

BajaRon also sells Amsoil motorcycle oil. I bought filter kits and oil from him. Great price and quick shipment. :2thumbs:

Thank you all for the quick and informative responses! So glad I joined the forum, you are all so helpful! Anymore input anyone has, please keep it coming :2thumbs:

Note: The strainer gets cleaned every other oil change - for some that is every 6000 miles. For some of us that is every 8k to 10k depending on how long you go between changes.

BRP also calls for the strainer O ring to be changed when you do this. It is the same size O ring for the dip stick. So order a few of those while you are at it.

I can tell you that each time I have pulled my strainer, I have found nothing impeding oil flow or caught in the mesh. So if you don't want to tackle that on your first solo change or don't have the new O ring, you will be ok.

When you do pull it, just blast it clean with some carb/brake cleaner and let it dry. Inspect before reassembly and that is it.

Can I get the strainer O-ring and worm clamp along with washer and oil filter o ring from bajaron?
