There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. New rear tire

Got my new rear tire mounted today. I installed the Kumho Ecsta AST that we had bought last fall. Thanks to the tips from Lamonster, Firefly and others, I was able to take off the rear wheel myself and take the wheel and tire to the local Discount Tire and have them put the new tire on the rim. I saved a boatload as the local Spyder dealers wanted between $100 - $150 to change out the tire. My cost was $10 for a 36mm socket from Sears, $15 for Discount to mount the tire and dispose of the old tire, a bottle of RideOn (not sure what dltang paid for it) and a couple hours of my time. Discount Tire couldn't balance that wheel but I didn't need it as I'm using RideOn for that.

My old Kumho Ecsta AST was on the Spyder for about 20,000 miles (I should have changed it sooner) but I would say that 15,000 - 18,000 miles would be the normal life of these tires. I'll be doing an oil change in the next few days and then I'll be mechanically ready for a trip to Cuba.

Good deal --- really not that hard once you do it a few times..... a real money saver!:2thumbs:

No doubt. Getting a stock tire and having it installed at the dealer is about $300. I'll be able to put an aftermarket tire on myself from now on for around $100 or less depending on the price of the tire. I think we paid around $80 for the Ecsta AST last time. Plus that Ecsta lasts a lot longer (about double the mileage) than the stock Kenda. In a sense, that gets the price down to about $50. :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Tire on, belt adjusted, oil changed, I'm basically ready for Spyderfest. :ohyea:

BTW, the Spyder rides beautifully with no wheel weights on the rim, only using the RideOn to balance the tire. :2thumbs:

Quick question ('cause I'm slow!).....What size rear tire did you put on? Was it the Kumho Ecsta AST 225/50R15?

I only have about 10K on my original tire and it's about due for replacement :gaah:.

Enjoy Spyderfest!!!
