There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The exhaust is a must IMHO. The Hindle is a nice compromise between a more throaty sound without bothering the neighbors too much. I think it also fits in with the overall Spyder theme.
A backrest will also be a necessity for any passengers. The BRP backrest/sportrack is expensive, but worth the cost.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I just posted in the contest threadhyea:
Anyway, I just bought my 08 SE5 last saturday (Demo w/184 miles on it. I have my learners and I am going this saturday to take the driving test on the spyder...wish me luck (any suggestions out there?) I think its going to be pretty simple on this thing.
So many things I want to do, but cant figure out what to do first. Since I just bought this, the wife will go crazy if I do them all at once :lecturef_smilie:
I want new wheels, i want to paint it, and I want exhaust.
I'm thinking about the Hindle, and maybe just getting vinyl like this until i decide on what color to paint it.

Sent you PM...get in touch with me about test...I was first in MD to take it... I can also show you my bike...have the hindle as well as a lot of other modifications...lots of NMN lights...these are a MUST, especially if you are going to ride around the Pike...

Ive looked over the MD handbook, and it looks like they toss out half the test for three wheeled/trike bikes.

Check your private messages...just sent you a long one...the test in MD is made ONLY for 3 wheelers...it's rather comprehensive but is not difficult if you're comfortable on the bike. When you pass, you'll get a 'M' classification on your license with a 'J' restriction on the back...this means 3 wheelers only...this is cool....I don't know about you, but I'll never wanna be on anything but a Spyder!!
welcome Enjoy the new ride. When you take it out be sure to plan on spending time talking about it. Everywhere I go I get to visit about it. I was getting gas last week and two state troopers were there at the station. They pulled (waved) me over to look at the bike. They had seen them on the road but not up close. Had a good visit with the troopers and they did ask how fast it would go :thumbup:. Enjoy!!

Welcome to spyderlovers and your new spyder. You will love the SE5. Not having to worry about a clutch frees up your attention to enjoy the ride more .....and watch out for those who don't see you.

After that, like Roger said, lights, lights and more lights. Check NMN for the kits that turn your front and rear signals into running lights. You may also want to consider HIDs if you ride at night.
Depending on how comfortable you are with the sports bike position, consider risers for the handle bars and extentions for the mirrors, unless you can see behind you fine already. Most Spyderlovers recommend these.

I agree...well, almost...
Mirror extensions are a must...lighting of all kinds is a must...backrest not necessary unless you want to lug around extra bods, windshield very important if you plan to be on the highway..
Hindle/exhaust a must...being most of us have very fragile egos
D), we don't want to sound like we're riding around on sewing machines...

If I only did one thing to the Spyder, it would be the 4" handle bar risers from No Magic Neon. These make a great difference in the HANDLING of the Spyder, as well as a more natural riding position.
