• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New GloRyder video

That makes for an easy mount. Mine is the older setup with 3 set screws and isn't the easiest to get mounted. You can pop off the OEM center cap with a small screwdriver without removing the wheel. Great product gives good side lighting at night. I'd like to see some new cap designs like the OEM "Y" design or a custom "YPILOT":D

:dontknow: you would have to call and ask but I think this is what will be shipping.

Thanks for posting this Lamont, we are really excited about this release. It should greatly simplify installation for the Spyder Community.

wyliec, Lamont is correct this is shipping as of yesterday.

YPILOT, we have a lot in the works for Spyder this year and next, stay tuned!

I love the look of the Gloryders but I don’t think they are legal in Illinois. :gaah:

They're not exactly legal in MD either, but if you avoid red, blue, and white, it makes a difference...my police patients said that an officer would have to be having a really bad day to pull you over for one of these...plus, mine is yellow, so it is a non 'conflicting' color...

Side visibility is crucial. I added the gloryders and will keep them on as long as I can...I wonder if they'll have a retro-remote made eventually...that'd be a cool feature to add...

These are worth the money!

I'd also suggest being able to buy the circuit board alone. You could change colours easily(I like 'em all, not to mention that a good chunk of $$$$ could be saved by only buying the mount and cap once.)

Big question:

How can we tell the legality of these on the road? The MASS DMV (Now under the MassDot: http://www.massdot.state.ma.us/rmv/) does not show any written legality to lighting. Most people say that if its does not carry a DOT approved logo, then it aint legal.

This is the text from the website:

  1. May I use neon undercarriage lights?
No, Neon (fluorescent) lights are illegal and are not approved for use in Massachusetts. Any aftermarket lighting that is not SAE or DOT approved shall be removed.

Are the GloRyder's SAE or DOT approved? Please advise.

Hi Sopher,

It would be a shame to have this thread hijacked by this question so maybe we could move it over to another thread ;). We have tons of talk on this here in the forum here is one link. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16850&highlight=gloryder

Disclaimer - First of all we do not give out legal advice - Just looking at your question here as a casual observer,

1. May I use neon undercarriage lights?
The answer No is correct, however the question would not apply to GloRyder.

Basically the laws in many states is similar "No additional lighting should be seen from the front or back of the vehicle" That would apply to undercarriage neon kits. That is not GloRyder.

Our product is not direct lighting, it reflects back onto the wheel itself not on the pavement, (at least not that much). There is also a new point that Spyder Ryders have brought to our attention in researching their local laws and that is "additional lighting should not shine more than 75 feet from the vehicle and should be less than 300 Millicandela in brightness". GloRyder meets both of those as well. A rider from TX called in to tell us he brought this to the officers attention and reportedly the officer went back to the patrol car to check it out and said your right, and let him go on his way. So I would definitely recommend checking your local laws.

Happy riding

GRS
