• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Fuel Caps

Re-enactment: My wife "babe I smell gas". Me "must be one of those spyders with the faulty gas top".

Thanks BRP, as you just took my excuse away while riding two-up :roflblack:

I got mine too. In fact, got two today. One for my old RS, and one for my RT. They both appear to be the same gas cap, and a bit heavier than the original.

So, took a ride to the coast today. 250 miles round trip. Still had slight fuel smell but nowhere near as bad as before. It's probably from the vent line. Got home and parked them in the garage with 1/2 tank of fuel, no fuel smell. Before, had to leave them outside to cool down and disipate fuel vapors before putting them in the garage.

Gas Cap Installation.

As I have read through the post I get a hint about the installation of the new cap.
well here is simple solution I found.

1. Goto or stop at a Gas Station.
2. Remove old cap.
3. Refuel spyder
4. install new cap.
done.

Re-Capping

Got ours in the mail today, larger seal (red! ) larger cap just as complicated a change as stated above.
As to why? there were gas fumes escaping and could accumulate under the seat. If any spark happened could ignite. :yikes:

New Cap and Gasoline Odor

We got the new gas cap and recall letter in the mail today. Unfortunately, I doubt the gas cap is the cause of the strong gasoline smell, which we got from our Spyder, both during and after our last ryde on our 2012 RT-S. After we got home, and the Spyder had been sitting for a few minutes, the husband did some investigating. He found liquid gasoline dripping from the outlet of a tube underneath the Spyder. After doing some research on this forum, we contacted the dealer, and took the Spyder in for repairs. Hopefully, they will be able to fix the problem! I am so grateful for this forum, where Paul and I can learn from fellow Spyder owners, instead of having to figure everything out myself!

Enjoy the Ryde!
Linda & Paul

You only forgot to mention step # 3a:
"leave old cap on top of the fuei pump."

I got two gas caps today in the mail. I feel special since I didn't get my free tickets to the Long Beach international Bike show.

New gas cap

Logged into the BRP site and it said my Spyder is effected by this recall but I have not seen anything yet. :dontknow: Never got the voucher for the oil change panel (Dealer still got me the panel).

What's kinda funny is that there are people selling their recall caps on eBay. I figure either these are peeps that already replaced with the better atv cap or just refuse to believe the cap is the real issue....

On another note, I haven't received any info in the mail as of yet either.
