• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Farkles Completed this week....

I am looking at the Sena unit also...I wanted to install in trunk also..but I am confused. If it has to be plugged into the radio, how did you do that and still install it in the trunk? did you run a cable all the way from the radio to the trunk??
Jonny

Hello, I posted a response earlier, but a picture is worth a thousand words....here ya go.....enjoy....hope this helps. It's a little involved taking panels off and all, but I had done it before....good luck if you do this. I used duck tape over the black area by the passenger radio controls to protect the finish -- when you remove the two screws holding this cover on, you need to slide it inward towards the center of the bike and get that radio control "hump" under the body panel (also disconnect the wiring) -- I just bent up the colored side body panel (it flexes, but be careful) and slide out the small black panel that has the passenger radio control on it....by using the tape, you protect the finish on that part. It's a tight area and is hard to work on to get the plug into the radio, but it can be done! You will need to drill a hole in the trunk area where you want to run the cable. There are "some" instructions with the BRP Bluetooth dongle kit...

Here's a picture of where the radio unit is and where to plug in the BRP cable that comes with their kit into the radio.....this picture does not show the Bluetooth cable installed yet, but you can see the radio connector connected to the unit in the upper right of the rectangular radio unit. The BRP Bluetooth cable hooks in the same side but on the lower right.

Best wishes for successful installs!!

Sena bluetooth

there is a thread about building your own cable so you can purchase the Sena unit from Amazon and then build your own cable to connect it to the radio and to power the Sena

good job on the installs

check out motorcycledave, he has great prices on the Sens, he is a sponsor on this web site.

JL,

Which LEDs did you use for your mirrors?

Red LED's I used on my 2012 RT Limited ...hooked into the mirror wiring - worked great from install early 2013 until I traded in my 2012 in Jan 2014. No problems.

Amber/Orange LED's I used on my 2014 RT Limited...did not know they had two wire on EACH end (you can probably find a better choice). I cut one end of wiring off and sealed with clear silicone. I used a 330 ohm 0.5W resistor to have them operate "normally" without hyperflashing (blinking fast)....this color matches well with the front turn signal lights on the mirror better than the red. Not used much, so don't know how long they'll last or if they will have any issues.

Good luck with your modifications.....

Looks like they work good, except when you're in Walmart and a sudden thundershower rolls by! :):):):):)

When rain is a threat, we either take our helmets in with us or use our travel cover. The travel cover works great if a downpour is happening soon....we got stuck in the Black Hills by Mount Rushmore....pulled into Keystone, put the travel cover on - helmets placed on seat with travel cover over it -- worked great -- it was like a pit stop -- got the travel cover on in about a minute. Kept the seat/cockpit and helmets dry.....However, I was soaked!:yikes:
