I think what is missing here is, these dealers will make tons more money servicing a spyder over its life time than they will selling one. It is sheer stupidity to treat a non buying customer badly if he brings in a bike for service that was bought elsewhere. Just dumb!
I bought mine in MO, not because I saved any money, but because I found a dealer(or he found me) who actually gave 2 sh*ts that I was interested in buying one. I travel to Delaware for service now, have built up a good relationship with the owner and the tech there. I always wait while service is being done, set it up in advance and they give me the time. I dropped it off for my 14k service and because it takes brp a ridiculous amount of time to get parts to the dealer, it was there for 3 weeks. A whole nudder issue.
Lets face it, although BRP has it's own issues(read 2013) the dealer network is the weakest link with these bikes. It it were better, they would sell a lot more bikes no doubt. JMO of course
