New England Can am dealers just don't seem to want to sell this product :(

I think what is missing here is, these dealers will make tons more money servicing a spyder over its life time than they will selling one. It is sheer stupidity to treat a non buying customer badly if he brings in a bike for service that was bought elsewhere. Just dumb!

I bought mine in MO, not because I saved any money, but because I found a dealer(or he found me) who actually gave 2 sh*ts that I was interested in buying one. I travel to Delaware for service now, have built up a good relationship with the owner and the tech there. I always wait while service is being done, set it up in advance and they give me the time. I dropped it off for my 14k service and because it takes brp a ridiculous amount of time to get parts to the dealer, it was there for 3 weeks. A whole nudder issue.

Lets face it, although BRP has it's own issues(read 2013) the dealer network is the weakest link with these bikes. It it were better, they would sell a lot more bikes no doubt. JMO of course

J&J is truly the exception and why I deal with them too. I'm sure between the group of us we would have several stories where Jim has gone above and beyond. I think that is just Jim's nature.
Most dealers, especially market segment dealers, are not this way... it's still the "support the small shop" mentality, otherwise FU!....haha.

Try taking your spyder to Bensalem or to one of the northern nj shops and see if you get the same welcome....hahaha

The Final verdict "From the original Post"

I went from Maine to Mass. about an hour and twenty minutes. Met with Eric at 3A Motorsports in Merrimack. He had what I wanted (Basic SE6 RT) White even. I told him what I'd hope to get with for my trade, he agreed, he then dropped the price of the RT (NICE), I put an additional amount down and I walked out with my dream Spyder for $15,300. I'm very happy, the dealer was great and Eric learned about a few of the features the RT has from me :clap:. It was painless as it should be and I will pick it up on Wednesday.

This disscussion is over!!!!! But it did get interesting to say the least :opps:

I agree 100% on this.
I wonder how many of those that come on here and complain about slow dealer service/repairs, are the same people that "traveled" to get a good deal on the purchase of their machine?

This has indeed happened many times. :thumbup:

[Q] Buy In Canada and Bring back

=====

If you have any dealers with in 6hrs from Maine, I will travel to purchase, so let me know please and what is more troubeling is I'm not kicking tires, I'm ready to sign!!!!!!

Thanks for your input everyone...
Rich from Maine

======

Is it possible to buy from either a Canadian dealer or directly at the Headquarters Quebec ?
(Some German car dealers have this plan.)

Then bring it home or drive it around the foreign country of Canada and import it back to USA as "used".

Any cost advantage to do so ?

- Bert

I've heard that the New England dealers are having a tough time of it right now. Many of them have a bunch of 2013 RTs hanging around that they can't get rid of and sales of 2014s are not going all that well either - perhaps because of the problems with the 2013s. If what I hear is true, It really doesn't surprise me much that there are no deals to be had out there - unless you want a 2013 RT for $4,000 off. Seems like these guys are losing money already.

In your first thread you said you were planning to go to Spyderquest. Are you still planning on it since you got a machine? Two possibly three of us from southern Maine are planning to go. We are signed up and accommodations are reserved. Where do you live?

the prices of spyders are much higher in quebec, even though that is where they are manufactured. by the time you bought one up there, paid taxes and got it home, you'd being paying about 10k more for it!!!nojoke

A year and a half ago my wife and I were in Canada and stopped at a Spyder dealership. I asked about a test ride and the price of an RT. We were told that we could get a better price in the US then in Canada. Looking at what they had marked on the Spyders for price it looked to be around $1000 higher then here on average.

Yep I'm all signed up for Spyderquest

Sent you an PM

Well this has been an interesting thread to say the least. After returning to New England after three years in the south I'm noticing that Spydermania just hasn't caught on up here like it has in the south. So if dealers aren't making sales it's understandable why they just aren't willing to cut special deals for people.

I'm also seeing that the service guys up here just aren't getting the experience they need to become really good at diagnosing and repairing. It's the classic chicken or the egg conundrum. Is a dealer going to invest thousands of dollars to buy equipment and train their techs when there just isn't a large demand for the service? I know I wouldn't.

So Rich I see no mention of Reynolds here. Please PM me if you're not comfortable posting dirt here (never a good idea). I'd really like to get some current feedback on Reynolds. When I left Maine three years ago it seemed like they were pretty up to speed on all things Spyder but that may have changed. Personally, I like staying close to home when choosing a dealer so I'm always willing to leave some money on the table if it means getting good, friendly service after the sale.
Keep sending the feedback on New England dealers. If nothing else it makes for very good reading...:popcorn:

My first :spyder2: 2010 I bought from HK Powersports. They treated me very good especially the service department. Their sales policy is usually MSRP but no other charges. The only thing was travel time to get there, 2 hours travel. On my new one I bought a 2012 left over. $4000 off MSRP but all the additions after brought the price almost to MSRP. So far the service dept. has been great. I have tried to do business with Robinson's before but didn't seem friendly towards me. Winslow on the other end has a great relationship with them. I guess he's PRETTIER than me. There is no way of knowing how a dealer will respond to a customer :dontknow:.
