There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I think that's damage from shipping. The first seat I went to get had both of the corners worn off. There was a hole in the shipping box where these corners would have been. The dealer ordered another one and it came in fine. The packing from the factory is nile. Just a plastic bag on the seat and then in the box. No padding at all, and the seat is loose in the box to move around during shipping.

no I checked it before I put it on cause someone mentioned that here. I have had it about a month and just noticed it, but you wouldn't see it unless you look for it like when you lift your seat up to but gas in

It's definitely the horrendously poor packaging job by BRP. I've had two delivered, one with the point of the seat poking out of a damaged box, the vinyl on the point was obviously damaged on this one. It went back.
The second one had some bend marks on the box from the left side point of the seat, but a cursory glance showed no obvious damage to the vinyl. This one now has torn vinyl exactly at that point that was pushing against the cardboard, just a month after install. It must have been stressed during shipping and gave way shortly after installation.
BRP is using the worst packaging I have EVER seen for an item with any significant value. They simply wrap the seat in a clear plastic bag, then wrap the whole thing in brown paper, drop it in the box and tape it up. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING? Those nice points on the end of the seats are getting the crap beaten out of them during shipping. As much as I hate plastic peanuts, can't they at least afford 4 cents worth, or perhaps some bubble wrap to protect a $400+ shipment? I would certainly think so. Even a $5 toy from China comes in a box with custom foam inserts to protect against damage... Does Canada not understand this?

Same here...........Both forward points on the seat had holes worn through the vinyl..... Obviously packing damage from rubbing on the box.........

also if your not carfull with ajusting when you reuse the pin that makes it lock you could be putting your seat to close to your :spyder:at the area of failure your mentioning checked mine today holding out fine but proper ajustment also seems to be a key factor that is when you get one not already broke:gaah:

OF COURSE! They've ALL been shipped in the same manner with zero packing material. What do they expect the seat's points to do when the package is handled by machine and is subject to multiple g's in all axes? They get pounded. PERIOD.
I noticed the same thing on my seat, after reading a post about it a few weeks ago. I didn't notice it when I put the seat on. I've watched it very closely since then and have not seen the rubbed areas getting any bigger. I agree this must of happened during shipping. Since it is not getting any worse and is not visible. I just decided to live with it. Overall I'm very pleased with the comfort of the seat and the appearance change it gives my:spyder2:. I

I know for a fact mine did not come this way as I made a point of looking because it was posted here that somebody had this issue. I put a little glue on it to help it stop ripping more. You can't really see it

We had one of the badly damaged seats, including missing hardware, in a crushed and ripped box. Dealer having a hard time getting reimbursement from BRP because they didn't remove seat from packaging and thoroughly inspect, then file claim with UPS. :roflblack: These things need some formed foam packing for protection, and a much more sustantial box. They weigh a lot, and I see no weight ratings on the carton. Second seat box was beat up, but not ripped, and seat was OK. I had a good look at the seat that was damaged. The plastic seat base is very sharp in the front corners, and I have concerns that the flimsy foam padding and the vinyl will eventually tear. Our second seat didn't have the upholsery pulled so tightly here, either. A rounded edge or some additional protection before installing the seat cover would have been better.

Serioulsy, no offense intended to the Canadian people... was meant more of a - if Chinese manufacturers can handle this for a cheap toy, why can't BRP (obviously a Canadian manufacturer) for such an expensive item. And I hope your offense is minimal. If I had any issues with Canada, I'd have bought a Harley.

Relative to detecting upon arrival: the problem is, the damage may be occurring from the inside out. The square edged, hard plastic seat point is pushing agianst the inside of the foam/vinyl. As the package gets bounced, the vinyl is being pushed against this sharp edge, being carved away from the inside of the cover. Perhaps this starts the separation process which culminates in total vinyl failure shortly thereafter.
As in my case, I saw a tiny scuff on the outside upon delivery, much better than the obvious damage on the first one. But within a few weeks, the vinyl had separated and the hard plastic is poking through. Nothing on my bike or in my use has put any force on this corner. It sits out in free air at least 1/4" away from the plastics, so it can't be an issue of abrasion after install.

NOW I'M PISSED...I just noticed mine are also ripped in the same spot, Quality control let these pass and that says something to me.
It's all about cutting corners...literally, the corners need to be rounded with some extra padding on the corners.
Wonder if latex silicone will stop the holes from expanding.
