• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

new brp seat ripping

Anyone second that?

I sent the damaged POS back. They offered to send a replacement...WHEN THEY GET THEM IN... THEY'RE BACKORDERED! No thank you, refund please. Yes, Recall them all.

Took the Spyder in last Friday for the Steering Recall. Went to pick it up in the afternoon...they couldn't do the patch. The service dept. said that "the data they got from BRP was corrupted". Fact or fiction??

Now we have 5 laterday Pinto incidents and rear fenders falling off.

Sorry about the rant...my confidence is a bit wobbly right now.

Tripod :(

Serioulsy, no offense intended to the Canadian people... was meant more of a - if Chinese manufacturers can handle this for a cheap toy, why can't BRP (obviously a Canadian manufacturer) for such an expensive item. And I hope your offense is minimal. If I had any issues with Canada, I'd have bought a Harley.
Do you really think this product and packing would be manufactured in Canada?:lecturef_smilie: No doubt BRP is responsible for the end product and quality control but i'll bet the house it was made in a sweat shop in Asia somewhere and shipped from there.

BRP seat tears

I posted a remark about the points on 3 new seats in the box when I went to buy one,I figured if shipment could wear through both points on 3 seats they would not last long under use, I thought the vinyl looked super thin and decided against buying one, waiting until October to get the discount on the DayLong saddle.:spyder:

What is this about a discount in Oct from daylong?

In years past, they've had a group buy sale in the fall / winter where they get people from all over the country to participate (any make, any model bike) to keep their business rolling in the winter. Not sure if they are having it this year but about 5 of us SpyderLovers got our Russell seats during the group buy last year and saved 25% off the normal price. You'll probably have to call them to see if they are doing it this year.

Discount on DayLong saddle

I did talk to them and they said that as of the time I talked to them they still planned a 2009 group buy, % off determined by number of buyers,October is the month to order, manufacture in November and December:2thumbs:

I'd be willing to wait until the fall to place an order, but for those who already own one, are they really that comfortable? I quess we should do some kind of riminder post come this October.

In the past and most likely again this year, Russell Day Long has offered a group discount in the fall. If they get orders for 50 or more seats, any make or model bike, not just spyder seats, they give a 20% discount on the seat. Both Brian and I did this last year. We were guaranteed 10% and at a certain number it went to 15% and once they hit 50 we got our full 20% discount. I absolutely love my Russell Day Long and would have never wanted to do the California trip without it. When they say you can ride all day, they are not kidding. They make it just for you. Check out their side and you can see my seat in the My Mods section and bjt's seat as well. They are both Russell's, but they are each different as they were made to order for us. You can also do a search for Russell Day Long and find comments and photos there as well.

BRP Revised Packaging

So I went to get my seat this afternoon, and of course one of the front edges had a damaged corner. The guys @ Middletown Cycle called BRP on the spot and BRP asked if the box had a pink label. Yes, you heard it, a pink label! That was the identification of the UPGRADED packaging for the seat. From what I saw it was a box with a seat in a bag, some upgrade :roflblack:. BRP claimed that this was the first seat with the "upgraded" packaging to have this issue. seriously?????? They ordered me a new one and said that it was on backorder (250 arriving Aug 18.). So we will see what happens.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to peal back the seat and round the corners by hand and then put the cover back on?

Just a thought...

CS out!!!!

I posted this problem in early June. My second seat was ok, but when I took it in for the smoking I also had them look at why I had a hard time popping the seat. The dealer said they fixed it and when they showed me it still would not open. They worked on it some more and ended up breaking the lever cable and the plastic on my seat. That was three weeks ago and today I'm told they won't see any more comfy seats until the end of August . I'm in spydy withdrawal  and who knows what the next seat will look like.

quackerz

Without knowing exactly how they broke your seat, couldn't they just remove the latch pin and let you ride without the seat latching down while waiting for the new seat? It's not the long term solution but it should be fine for riding around town for a while.
