Interesting article on patents filed in the EU. http://www.motorcycle.com/mini-features/new-can-spyder-revealed-patent-filings.html
The swing arm looks like it might be hiding a shaft drive!
So is it the new under $10K unit due later this year or an upgraded sporty model?
What he said and I'm sure with that additional tech., it will push a fully loaded Spyder to close to 40K, so they can recoup the tooling and engineering costs.:dontknow:Mac:doorag:Well if it is Shaft drive, I'd wait a couple years before buying one!
BRP engineers won't get it right the first time for sure unless they look at Honda and BMW.
Loved my R1100RT BMW.
hope it comes with a 4 cyl. 1800cc engine with a 7 speed tranny.....
i'll put my order in now if it does....  :2thumbs:
Shaft Drive would be interesting as well...opcorn:

Agree with all the above, but still think a shaft drive would be nice! Unbelievably we are already pushing 40k (36 for a limited)here in Canada, which I still do not understand, considering we make them here! So we would probably be pushing 45k!:yikes::yikes: And as Akspyderman said , that would put me out of the running!
I don't think there's anything wrong with an Aramid belt drive. Harley Davidson has had them for awhile now. They're quiet, never needs lubrication, and are less costly to replace than a shaft drive. I've had, five Honda Gold Wings since 1977, and the shaft drives have performed flawlessly. But a belt drive offers a less expensive, equally reliable alternative. But I think no one will argue the point, that both belt and shaft drive, are far superior to anything requiring a chain.
