• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Have spent an untold amount of time reading as many of the threads as I can about the RT line of Spyders. And like many of you, I am having the gas vapor smelling problem after only 1200 miles. Mine only occurs after I park the cycle in the garage and close the door at the end of a ride. My garage becomes saturated with fuel vapor smell, so I open the garage door about a foot, and turn on my auxiliary floor fans to dispel the odors outside. It does not take long to solve the issue...not happy with it of course, but can deal with it...looking forward to the continued enjoyment of using the spyder....

From my own experience, do not look to BRP for any help on this issue. It may be that your evap canister has fuel in it. You will also probably find that the Spyder will get very hot when riding in hot weather, particularly the gas cap. Again, expect no help from BRP. Love the ride, :clap:hate the problems, :mad:but had none yesterday riding in 25 degree weather.

:welcome:
Could you have overfilled your tank? Excess fuel gets sloshed down into the evaporative canister; making for a very smelly mess...

Have the same problem with my 13RTS. I just keep it outside till it cools down after the ride , then I bring it inside.

The gas odor thing has been an ongoing issue that rears its head sometimes. Previous fixes have been a new gas cap for all :spyder2:'s up through 2012. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The mention of overfilling the tank and ending up with gas in the evap canister is one cause--but not always THE cause. I usually fill my :spyder2:'s after a ryde. I fill up to the ring and it is a five mile drive from the gas station to my home.

The heat issues are known on the 2013's and a fix is supposed to be on ongoing project.

I have owned four :ani29:'s and have not experienced the gas odor problem on any of mine.

Others will come on with ideas and suggestions.

Welcome to "Spyderdom" and Flarda. Keep an eye on the Flarda forum for some "meet and greets" that we have. You being in Lutz (pronounced Loots for those in Rio Linda) you should find a few stragglers over that way for rides. Like I said, keep an eye on the Flarda forum and we certainly welcome you to join us.

Welcome..!!

Welcome to the roadster world and the place for answers. There are untold threads on the subject..overfilling, filling to fast, gas caps. I had no problem till I got the new cap. Now following the slow filling and only till fuel bubbles back at the rim I have no problems once again. Welcome again..!!

As for the fuel odor problem it could be your purge valve. Have you seen any faults show up on your dash display? Have you looked for any trouble/fault codes?

Check Your Gas Cap

If its not sealing well; if it appears loose when you go to fill up, then trim some of the edge off to allow it to tighten down further. I use one made by Stant, a common maker of caps, found in any auto store. Most of these are generic and fit about any gas tank.

Had same problem until dealer replaced the evap. canister during the recall visit. No problems since. Don't overfill tank, there are serval threads on filling tank on here.
