• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Doing our first at home oil change. What is the little filter for that is next to the oil tank? Do you change it with each oil change? Thank you in advance

If you have the SE5 trans., You have a transmission oil filter and the normal oil filter. I'm no expert but I would change both. Then again, My dealer does it..

Depending..!!

yes you change filter/filters with each oil change. Depending on if you have the semi-automatic which has two filters. One for the engine and one for the transmission. Also change the O-rings and the crush washers (those little copper washers on the drain bolts). Check owners manual...opinions differ but for my way if thinking these parts are cheap and save on oil leaks and costly internal problems....may it go smoothly...

DO NOT mix the trans filter bolts with the engine oil filter bolts. They are different lengths. Do not over torque them. They seal well if installed correctly and there's no need to tighten them tell they squeak. Use a torque wrench where you can and follow torques specs.

May I suggest you get the shop manual for your Spyder and use that info to change your oil properly. There is a 3 page procedure in the shop manual for changing the oil. The second time will be easy...

Where did you get the shop manual from? Thank you for any info you can give me.

We ordered the book from www.midwestmanuals.com we did a download to our computer. It is a very big book so. Oh Lamont's has a video of doing an oil change without taking everything off like the manual said. Not bad doing that way, do have to work getting into some places.

I just did my first oil change at home. Got the manual on ebay in CD form odd thing is on the three page oil change part it does not tell you how tight to get the oil filter bolts but it does have the torque for the drain plugs.

Torques for the fasteners are usually listed on the blow-ups at the beginning of each section.

Warranty

I just traded in my 08 for an 2013 RT, If you do the service maint. at home without the dealership rip off. Doesnt that void the warranty?
