• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OK, so here goes. I have a Timeless Black RT-S. I wanted a bright color, as I've been run off the road twice in one day back when I lived in FL & owned a dark colored short wheelbase SUV. But BRP only made the RT-S in Timeless Black back in 2010, so thats what I went with. Now I have a solid white Moto-Mate Camper that I'm going to get painted to match my RT-S. I don't want to do the entire thing in Black tho, just too much dark for me. The front of the Camper has a Diamond Plate Rock Guard on the front 1/2 & I love the look of this. It has the mirror finish and you can actually see yourself in it. So I'm thinking of adding more Diamond Plate to the Camper & also adding Diamond Plate accents to the RT-S, like on the sides of the two front fenders and also maybe the two side storage farings. Ive ordered a sample of Diamond Plate Vinyl from RVinyl, & it looks absolutly fantastic. I think adding more Diamond Plating would add to my visibility, especially from the sides. I am going to add lighting soon, just not in my budget yet, one thing at a time, & get'n the camper done is first on my list.

So, I guess I'm looking for inspiration from more experienced members on their thoughts about this. Ive never done anything like this, and have a painter that comes with good references & is reasonable as well. I just dont know if going with the Vinyl is my best option. Going with actual diamond plating is just to expensive and would cause to much weight for the camper. What ever I choose to do, I have to live with for a long long time.

I'm sure there are ppl out there that have done something cosmetic with their Spyders, that they wish they hadn't after it was done. I realize no-one likes to publicly admit that they made a mistake, but I'd like to learn from your experiences so I don't make similar mistakes myself. Whats that old saying, something good can come from something bad? :dontknow:

Not to mention, Teddy wont ryde with me unless I keep the Spyder & Camper Look'n the :firstplace:BEST it can :doorag::roflblack: Gotta love that dog  Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions/inputs :2thumbs:

I plan on putting "Bright Side" lights on my 2010 Blue RT-S. My Komfot Kamp trailer has big stop and turn lights on it already, but was thinking of putting side marker lights on it for more visibility.

Yup, lights are on my list as well  But i gotta work out how to do the paint'n & match'n of the Moto-Mate & RT-S right now, but thanks for your suggestion :D

I don't know if you have seen the new 2011 rt the red one in particular that is really nice maybe leave like 2 black rally stripes on the nose and down the back of your bike just to break it up a bit as for the trailer do have vnyle diamond plate all around the bottom half of the trailer then the rest red or do this same idea in a different color if thats to bright or metalic lime green there is a lady by me that has hers painted that lime green it looks really good.

I think the red is a really good idea. Where would one go to find a red with the metallic that would match the Timeless Black? & the diamond plate all around the lower half of the camper is hot in thought. gotta see what we can do to make it happen  any more thoughts or ideas?
:hun:

It doesn't matter what color you make it. If you're driving in Flarda, you're still gonna get run over by the "northerners" who don't know how to drive. <ducking> :yikes:

Personally, I would leave the camper just as it is. For one thing, the light color is much cooler during the day if your campsite is in the sun. In fact, if it were mine, I would add some LED marker lights, and probably some reflective tape on all sides. I do this with all my trailers.

I would then take the money saved, and put it into some ESI Mudflap Lights, and some ESI Bright Sides. I would also add the High Brake Light, but your tall trailer would probably block the view, so that is not as urgent an option.

I know what you mean about the black. It was as elegant as anything I have ever owned, but the visibility always concerned me. The mudflap lights helped a lot, escpecially at night when they also reflect off the sides, and side lights were in the works. I also considered contrasting, custom vinyl wraps. My black and white former CHP BMW seems to be very visible...people often slow down or pull over when they see me coming...and this isn't even California! :D In the end, I traded my Timeless Black for a Viper Red RTS.

:agree:with Scotty. Good idea about not painting the camper. Also like the lights idea on the RTS. I have a trunk light bar, and day runners on the front. Adding the additional lights as suggested is a great idea.

Oh, Ive been Lusting that very thing :ohyea: but I gotta draw my line somewhere & I cant make that happen, & if I start trade'n in every year :gaah: where does it end :dontknow: think i need to make what I got mine, cause I know ther's many things that I need to get done :agree: but I do love my :spyder: :2thumbs: I'm gonna make this one mine:shemademe_smilie: 'er.......... I mean Teddys :roflblack:

It was when I lived in Tallahassee off 27 that I got ran off the road twice in one day :gaah::chill::roflblack:

Any color you pick they can add as much metal flake as you would like. Now as for my original paint idea imagine that same design but in stead of the black rally strips picture them white then this way you could either leave your trailor white or just put a fresh coat of white and and add some red pinstripe (same red that you used to paint the bike? More lights is always a good idea for safety. I think the red they use on the spyder is fire engine red. i'am sure your painter has a book with color chips.

I like your idea of matching your RTS to your trailer, and everybody here has offered good advice on how to make the whole package more visible.
So other than picking on Mouthpiece a bit, :D I can't add anything worthwhile to the conversation!

what ever you do it sounds like it will stand out and then itl be yours, dont forget to send piks.id love to see how it turns out.just go for it ,i trade too much to do too much im already thinking about an rt.

:agree: GREAT FIND :agree:

I do like how it looks in black, makes it look very sharp:thumbup: Think after Talk'n with a few of the Club Members tonight, I'm gonna Go with the mirror finish Diamond plate all around the lower half of the camper (& possibly down the middle top) & then have the sides painted Timeless Black along with 2 matching black stripes on the top.

Then add diamond plate accents to the RT-S & almost $600 worth of lighting mods from ESI & KewlMetal  Teddy better be get'n a damn good pay'n job :roflblack: I mean hell, he's already got a $3,000 dog house & I haven't even started the mods on that thing yet :roflblack:

I hope you are going with vinyl or paint, that just looks like diamond plate? Adding actual safety plate, even in thin aluminum, would add too much weight for my comfort. It would put the trailer nearer the max towing capacity of the Spyder, and cut down capacity for cargo. Looks have to take a back seat to practicality sometimes.
