NEED HELP

This is a new one I think. I was cleaning my bike yesterday using a soft towel. My fingernail rubbed against the black panel and I immediately had a white racing stripe. Very noticeable!! I have tried water and peroxide, combined with strenuous rubbing, but the stripe is still there. I am afraid to try nail polish remover because of the acetone. As my title suggested, I NEED help.:dontknow:

:shocked: Is it just on the surface, or is it a deeper scratch? :yikes:
I'm a fan of using rubbing alcohol to clean off any and all residue that is on the surface...
(Us Diabetics seem to have an endless supply of rubbing pads laying around!)
Worst case scenario; you might need to get one of those "Touch-up" pens to fill in the scratch. (If that's what it is)

Try "Black on Black" cleaner. Can be found at most parts stores or Wal Mart. Restores the finish on black plastic parts.

:agree: the "Black on Black" saved me before, and easy to apply. Also you can avoid this in the future by biting your nails so low you won't scratch anything.

Somebody mentioned a product from Wally-Mart that also worked like gangbusters to rejuvenate the black plastic...
But where did I put that name inside this head of mine?? :dontknow: pps:

Thanks for suggestions. I actually resorted to using the nail polish remover and it worked. I didn't scratch the panel. I simply ran my hand over it while cleaning and some polish embedded itself on the panel. I had 2 perfect white racing stripes. I am still going to buy the product from Wally World to increase her shinability.
