There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Need drive belt

Carlos even called and left a message for me. I was cutting the grass so didnt hear the phone. He said he got my e mail from last week and saw that the dealer had contacted them and were going to replace the belt. Seemed like a nice guy. They have to order the belt of course so will be without the bike for a while and one of the techs just quit today so that will slow it down even more, but at least its covered.

I was just giving the Spyder a check over and looking at changing the oil when I saw this
1belt.jpg

A stone has been caught up in the belt teeth then forced a hole in the belt from the pressure as it ran over and over the pulley,
I don't know how long it's been like that.
BRP Australia tell me that maybe BRP in the U.S. will replace the belt free of charge for you guys but not BRP here in Australia Pfffft...

Robo.....

Took the Spyder to the dealer tried to get it covered under warranty but they determined it was caused by a rock. Anyway, BRP gave my dealer the option of sending the belt to them and if they determined it was a factory defect they would refund the cost of the new belt....my dealer said I didn't have a good case so it wasn't worth doing, I agreed since a portion of the stone was still embedded in the belt...lol

welcome Robo.

Sorry, but as Crucified posted even the US dealer would not replace for free due to a rock being stuck in there.

Best of luck getting it taken care of.

rocks damaging drive belt

why so many belts with rock damage? after fitting a semi slick track tyre, very sticky rubber, i heard crunching noises when slow moving over gravel. the rocks were carried by tire surface and dropped on the belt lower face. had to add a guard to the area and deflect pebbles. no problem since. worthwhile effort to protect expensive part.

Spyder dealer's here in Australia want $750Aust which is around $693U.S. just for the belt then a couple of hours to fit it.
after a search on the net I have one on the way for $269U.S. plus $29U.S.to send it to my door.
I don't understand how the Australian dealers have such a crazy price on the belt.
it's very easy for stones to flick onto the bottom of your belt,
I don't normally ride on unmade roads but stones can be on edges of the road or corners along country roads,
we need a stone guard!

Wow, that is a crazy difference price wise. I am glad to hear you were able to find one on the net instead.

You also bring up a good point about stone protection. Where I live they sometimes repave the roads by putting down a thick layer of crushed stones with some sealant mixed in. They then expect the vehicles driving down the road to pack it all into the existing asphalt over time. If you drive on this with your car, you can hear the rocks hitting the wheel wells of your car. We try to avoid these sections of road if possible even in the car. Now I will definitely need to be looking for detours for the Spyder if I find the road is done that way.

If its that bad I may still think about trading it off. I have freinds with Victory's and other belt driven bikes and they never have trouble with rocks in the belts and if rocks ever did make it in there they never broke the belt. Im just glad my belt was covered and hope to never have any more problems with it.
