• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Need advice on good set of grips

I need to replace the grips on my 2011 RS SE5. They make my hands numb after about 25 miles. I've seen foam grips and air grips and just about anything that claims to cure this problem. I would like a good set of non-chrome grips. I'm not worried about price. I'd rather get it right the first time. The next thing is the install. I've heard horror stories about twisted grips and ones that stopped halfway. Any install tricks you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Grip Puppies work well and are cheap. They go over your stock grips-- just dunk them in hot soapy water and 'twist' them on--- I use a dry rag around them to do it and it works pretty good. They help quite a bit-- but you also need to lighten your grip up---- and I'm sure you've found that resting your left hand really helps things--- so resting your right hand will too---- for which I recommend using a throttlemeister--- which will put pressure on the throttle to hold your current speed while you rest your hand on your leg or wherever. When I first got my Spyder I couldn't ride more than 45 minutes without my hands going asleep.... resting the hands helped-- and adding the throttlemeister solved my right hand problems.

You do have to be a bit careful 'twisting' the throttle when installing the grip puppies or new grips----try and hold onto the throttle control housing to make sure it doesn't try to spin on the bars--- if you apply too much pressure you can break it----

+++ on eveything Firefly says. I do want to add, grip puppies add to the diameter of the grips. They are not for small hands. Very comfy and along with the throttlemieister, they really reduce vibration.

I always liked the grips fom ODI... REAL easy to install and remove and they do a nice job of cushioning things. (I used them on ATVs...)

Another Grip Puppies fan here. Added them to my 2011 RTS and they really are holding up well. They have helped my comfort a lot!

I will also put in a plug for the Kuryakyn ISO Grips. I installed an all-black set on our black/orange RS-S, and it works just great for my large hands. Also looks great on the Spyder too. I also installed the throttle boss too, and found it to be very helpful without being obtrusive.

These have a more "finished" appearance than does most grips, which might be important to some....
